Cave Story
« on: October 02, 2011, 07:09:17 pm »
Has anyone played it? I put in a few hours recently on the Wii. It's spectacular. If you find yourself longing for the good old days of the NES, this game is for you. It's very much a game that could have been an actual NES game--one that would have been forever on your top-ten list.

Edit: BTW, other versions exist. There used to be a free version available for the PC. Dunno if that remains the case since the game was commercialized. But if you have a Wii, that's an enjoyable way to play it. It's a downloadable Wiiware game.

I played it. It is very fun.

I got to the very end, but I couldn't beat it. After an evening of trying, I gave up and haven't played it since.

I think this game is darn near perfect.  And that we play it on the Wii which was successful because of the motion controls is even better.  Not many better ways to be sedentary on the couch while you try for the 10th time to get that perfect jump or defeat that "I don't know what the F%$# I'm supposed to do" boss.  If you have a Wii, it's actually worth buying. :applaud:

I down loaded it for my dsiXL and think it's awesome! Love the old school feel and game play!

Good lord. Has anyone beat the game to get the best ending? The hidden level (Hell, more or less) combined with the final boss is incredibly difficult and unforgiving.

I couldn't beat it to get the normal ending.  :'(

Although, I haven't played the game in over a year.

I got the bad ending and the good ending. But getting the best ending is crazy difficult. I think I'm almost there. But I've replayed the final level probably 30 times. I've only been to the final boss maybe 4 or 5 of those. And he's super difficult.

I can't even stare at Ballos's final-final form without the urge to scratch, like looking at a picture of ants. No margin for error at that point.

Now you've piqued my interest.  I set this aside and forgot about it.  Holding the wii remote sideways makes my right index finger hurt from rubbing against the little raised lip where the safety strap attaches.  I'll have to suck it up and check it out again.
