The Watch
« on: September 23, 2012, 05:00:42 am »
That's more like it! I was beginning to think there weren't any good movies around! This is an enjoyable romp. I really didn't know anything about this. Which was great, so I enjoyed this all the more for its surprises. If you don't know anything about it, check out this trailer, it sets the tone for the movie, but doesn't tell you much (my sort of trailer. I hate it when you practically see the whole movie in the trailer )

If you like what you see (I saw the movie on the strength of this trailer), check it out. I loved that dude out of IT Crowd. And it's great to see Vince Vaughan again. He plays the father of a teenage daughter, and you can imagine he would be exactly like the character in real life (I know he likes a bit of a scrap).

4/5 pelted eggs from me (",)

Quote
my score for recent movies you may have seen:

5/5 - The Way Back, The Kings Speech, Michael Clayton, In Bruges, Gran Torino, Mary and Max

4.5/5 - Taken, Iron Man, Reign Over Me, Watchmen, The girl with the dragon tattoo

4/5 - True Grit, Traitor, Bedtime Stories, Sunshine, pineapple express

3.5/5 - 300, Max Payne, You dont mess with the Zohan, Yes Man

3/5 - That new Indiana Jones flick, Disturbia, That new TMNT flick,

2.5/5 - Angels and Demons

2/5 - The Love Guru. Note: My 2 is probably someone elses 1. Just leaving room for worse!

I'm not a fan of 3 out of 4 of the people in this movie.

I'm happy to see Richard Ayoade getting work in the US, but not like this.  :badmood:

I guess a lot does hinge on whether you like Ben Stiller or not. So it's definitely true when I say watching that trailer will tell you if you'd like the movie or not  :D

I don't think the world needs another Ben Stiller / Vince Vaughan movie and I am surprised they didn't try to cram Owen Wilson into the mix. Jonah Hill is the perfect typecast actor to shove in his place until Zoolander 2 comes out. Meanwhile I will be sitting and trying to figure out where creativity went in Hollywood.

That said, I will probably rent this movie and enjoy it.
