What is the equivelant of SCART in the US?
« on: March 23, 2012, 04:53:09 pm »
Hey not sure if this question is been asked or not, couldn't find anything on it.  I was just wondering,  I see pictures and blogs where people in Europe Repair or build cabinets and put SCART Tvs in them.. Is there an equivalent in the US?  Just wondering from what I have seen they look pretty good.
Thanks

if i had to say going off any standard tv connection component would be a close second. im not really a fan of hdmi for cabinets. tho if someone wants to give me a 32in lcd tv for my showcase project i would not cry  ;)

Ok,  Was just curious,  From what I can tell they are about as scarce in Europe as a  RGB CRT is scarce here.

There are equivalents out there.  Look for professional monitors like the Sony PVM series that have RGB inputs on the back.  These were also used for security systems and medical applications.

A popular choice is the NEC XM 29

RGB scart TV's are easy to find in Europe. Most el-cheapo Sony's from the last popular CRT years are equiped with RGB scart inputs. Just on one SCART of the 2 though, but that is enough. Think models like KV-21FX30 or the KV-25FX30. Philips even has 4:3 models at 24 and 27 inch that support 1024x768 or 1080i.
