Author Topic: mini astro fighter UPDATE: THE CAB IS DONE !!! READY TO PLAY ... (Read 7682 times)

One day I was searching on EBAY and I bump in one of these cab. It remember me a little bit about my astro city in much smaller and made of wood.
few month later was one for sale as non working for $99, I decide to purchase it and install a 4in1 jamma PCB that I just got.
when I receive the cab I found out that one fuse was completely blow.when I replace it the cab was working !!!
after few minute of game play I fall in love with the game , it is a mix of galaxian and space invaders , so I decide to restore the all cab and keep it as is ....
I just need to install a light for the marquee and install a new cpo and voila !!!!

PS: astro fighter was never release in the US in that cab.
this cabs have been imported directly from JAPAN.

i just install a cpo that i found for $2 on ebay

FINALLY DONE i just install a light for the marquee , was none inside :? i also add a credit button with a led light , and place it in the game room !!!

Does one of those buttons say "Erase Sw."? Is that for clearing high scores?

Is this cab comfortable to play at or is it too low to the ground? It looks to me like the control panel rests around the 2ft high mark. Is that about right?

I've been looking for a very small upright cab to model after for building a new cab and it looks like this may be the one. Thanks for showing this.

Geez, just look at the last pic in his first post.
Looks like you need to sit on the floor to play it.

very short but a very cool cab, and the game is really fun to .. i was supose to convert that cab in a 4in1 game

i use the same stool that i use for my astro city ...
when you get use to it it is perfect

I guess if the machine is too short one could build a foot 1/2 tall pedestal to raise up the machine.

you really are a star my mate also was well pleased, today was the first real day for the project to build ur cab we bought all the wood and so far have half the items ready i just got back home right now,
so this weekend will exactly be the first day of the build will update the pics for you...

They came with pedestals originally. They are awesome looking. cnlmoore and I picked up 4 of the DECO minis today.

Here's a pic of the cabs we picked up, the bases are removed for easy transport, but you can see one sitting on the right. It raises it up to comfortable chair height.

Despite the age of this thread, I'd say this is an interesting cab.

Why was the base removable for easy transport? Even with the base attached, I'd say these cabs are easily dwarfed by their American cousins. Transportation logistics and costs? IIRC, the Japanese tend not to own a car. That's all I can think of.
