PC to monitor question
« on: January 09, 2012, 04:20:20 pm »
Hi
I have just hooked up a CA&G monitor model number VI 2500 through a jamma card to the pc . A big thanks to grantspain for that. When I turn on the pc the dell logo then the windows boot up logo with appear on the screen, there will be alot of the logos on the screen at the same time and it is flickering like mad. then when it fully boots up all I have is a blank screen. Is there some setting on the pc I need to change for to get it to work or where am I going wrong

Thanks

Gerry

What sort of graphics card are you using?  Are you running any programs to change your resolution like advancemame, soft 15khz, or groovymame?

I'm having some trouble finding any information on that model of monitor.

It sounds to me you're describing a 15khz monitor during start with a 31khz signal.  It will result in the image being doubled and flickering rapidly.

This monitor is likely a 15khz, or CGA only monitor.  You will need to find a way to send it a 15khz signal.  You can use an arcadeVGA graphics card, or software such as soft 15khz or groovymame.

First thing for you to do is find more info on your monitor.  Do you see any other manufacturers on the chassis or the tube?  Names like Wells Gardner, Betson, Billabs, Sanyo, etc.
