Mortal Kombat Arcade - All games in one!
« on: June 23, 2012, 01:00:22 am »
Hi guys, first post here. Frst of all excuse my poor english, Im from Venezuela.

Im in the ambitious process of making an arcade MK cab that hosts and plays ALL major MK versions (MK I, II, UMK3, MK4, MKT, MKDA, MKD, MKA, MK vs DC and MK9).

This is my baby now, but I have some questions to all of you:

Since I can play all first MK games by switching the Jamma, I have seen some console adapters to RGB monitors. I googled and found this:

http://ultimarc.com/wii.html

The "Wii AV to Arcade Monitor/Speaker Adaptor (Screw Connect)" seems my best bet, since my monitor is old, and it doesnt has any VGA input anywhere.

But I have found so little info or reviews of this cable.

Why Im planning on hooking a Wii there? MK deadly Alliance, Deception and Armaggedon are there and I dont have a PS2 or Xbox I to hook them. Also I have a pair of hacked Gamecube pads so they work beautyfull with the sticks. I will plan on adding a 360 later for the other games, and Im also puzzled on HOW I will hook the n64 in there!

Any help or info on how good that Ultimarc cable is will be VERY APRECIATED.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FRIENDS!

theres no point in running a jamma switcher if youre going to run emulation, you can just emulate the arcade versions. The X + 1 button layout of MK3/UMK3 doesnt work very well with a great number of the console MKs. MK9 was only on xbox360 or PS3 and Im not sure how those 2 would output a signal that can be used on an arcade monitor. You can run a PS1 and PS2 emulator on a PC and run all the arcade and last generation MKs, that would just leave MKvsDC and MK9 off your list.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Thx for your input. We actually here play the 3d MKs very well using arcade sticks and the X + 1 button configs. I dont want to go for the emulation route cause I think those Mks (the 3d ones) arent perfectly emulated yet.  The Jamma swithc is already installed and running top notch!

Again very apreciated your comment, but still if anyone has experience on this cable or connecting a Wii to an arc monitor, please post!

This guy managed to hook up a 360 to an old MK arcade cab and the results are quite good!

I had a really long sophisticated reply typed up, but I'll be brief instead. You cant hook an xbox360 up to a standard res arcade monitor without some sort of converter or hacking a SCART cable:

As for the 3D MKs, they all run just fine on PS2 emulators, they are still terrible games, but they run 100%. Other than MKT I wouldnt want to run any of the other MKs, but thats just me. I only suggested the emulation route because its a lot easier to interface a PC to an arcade rather than a console
