Finding someone to do wordwork
« on: December 10, 2011, 02:42:31 pm »
I recently purchased a cocktail cabinet kit, and plan to start putting everything together in January.

However, the only power tools I have/can afford is your standard power drill. What I would like to do is take one of the control panels, and add a trackball (it has six button holes precut) and make it flush (I hate the look of those plates on top of the panel). Since I don't own any type of saws, I was wondering where in the world I could find someone to hire to do this.

Do I look at hardware stores, post an ad, find a specialty business, etc.?

Just looking for someone to point me in the right direction.

Harrisburg, PA. Not a bad idea of shipping it, I just didn't know if stores like Lowes or mom and pop shops offered woodworking services.

Go on Craigslist and track down someone who builds/sells 60-1 games.  For a few dollars, I'm sure you will find someone local who can help you complete the cabinet build.

Problem with the guys on Craig's list is that their whole profit is in the cab.   The 60 in 1 and controls cost very little of what they are charging for the cabs.

You might be able to find a local handyman service that would do this for you.  Maybe offer to drop off and pick up to get a decent price?

The local cabinet maker would have the tools and skills.
