Finding Auction Prices for Used Games (Derby Owners Club)

(1/3) > >>

Xynie:
I ended up in a weird/lucky situation, a friend of mine owns a few bars and recently picked up a local establishment that went out of business years ago.  He doesn't do arcade games, only billiards, darts, and golden tee in his places.  The latest place he picked up has a bunch of games, including a 4-player horseshoe Derby Owners Club World Edition which I personally dropped a bunch of money on in my day.  He said the other night he was willing to sell it, he has no use for it, so I am trying to find a good price to offer for it.  It is pretty old, and a little beat up, not even sure how good the working condition is, it has been sitting for a while...I will have to test it out.  Being a huge fan of the game and a minor collector of arcade games, this would be a great pickup for my basement/game room.

My question, is there a way to find out recent used/auction prices of arcade games anywhere?  I tried a based google search of "Derby Owners Club" and auction results, but didn't get any good, real data to get a price that is fair to both of us.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Anthony

Mac Green:
Id say 800-1000 is a good price for it. you did say it was a little beat up

Xynie:
It is definitely beat up, and has been sitting for 18-24 months... so I still have to test working order.  I can find a refurbed one on Craigslist in KC for $2500... so I am going based on that being like new.  I think I will offer in the sub 1K range.

Mac Green:
offer 1250 thats fair for both him and you  ;D

CheffoJeffo:
How did we get from 800-1000 to 1250 being a good deal ?

Mac sounds like someone we would all like to sell too.

A couple of things -- if you are going to test, don't offer before testing. If you are going to offer without testing, adjust down accordingly. Also, this is a big ass piece of equipment -- make sure it will fit in your basement and remember that the big stuff often goes for less at auction because nobody wants to haul it away.
