That is the coolest skateboard I have ever seen.

Which one?

The MetallicA one. I grew up in san diego, and I have seen me some boards, but man, that is a cool one.
Pictures are overrated anyway.

I used to skate in the 80s over here in the UK where we didnt realy have the choice of boards that you guys in the US had. I used to  have a wide Varliflex board. Are they/were they cool? Rip in Peace was the design.

No, they weren't. Just like with Nash, we laughed at them. Pretty much what we considered toy store brands.

In the 80s we made fun of variflex but I think they were something in the 70s. at least I remember seeing photos and stuff from competitions and seeing alot of veriflex.

I'm not sure if this site has been mentioned, but they have a lot of vintage reissue boards in their actual shape.

That red text above stresses me out lmao

So far I have bought 6 boards, pretty sure the #7 & #8 will be those tattoo redemption ones but I have yet to pull the trigger.

Here are stock/online photos I found of the decks that are in transit right now.

Starting to think it would be cool to populate the boards with some cool wheels & trucks, FML thats going to be expensive...I guess I better decide first if I am going to trade up later on for old school decks before dumping more money into this assortment.

That Santa Cruz is probably my favorite. Before the uni-boards came, that general design was the best all-around board. Good ollie tail.

Talking about my Santa Cruz (the Eric Dressen)? It was my favorite board ever.

Yeah, those Dressens are sweet. Full color they explode. Someday.
There's a guy out there that does nothing but band decks. That's a tight one. Mixes old and new.
Birdhouse set from '94:

Hen's teeth.
I actually traded him the Frazier/Sagat because he had pulled all the rest. I was holding out with out a doubt. Bad ass deck. Hated to see it go.
Made it worth my while though.

I have always wanted to line the walls of my basement with various decks.  So f'in cool.  Some nice boards shown in this thread.  I love the old Rob Roskopp decks where each release he broke through more and more.

I am getting a little old to keep skating like I did when I was young, but I always have and will always have a board to kick around.  I have been on a Element kick for about a decade now.  Getting old ain't so bad because now my nephews are getting old enough to learn how to skate.  Now I have a great excuse to skate a little and I can help them learn.

I am starting to collect parts to start my first cab and i wonder if I could work in a skateboarding theme.  there was the skate or die game and the 720... am I missing any?

yeah, the weird joystick game was called 720ͦo and the stick was stuck to the outside and only spun around like a clock.   I just bought some a pair of u360s so I wonder how well the game would feel with those sticks.

I don't see these as real decks. They weren't meant to be skated.

Why weren't they "meant" to be skated?

You can't bring that to the table with these. Straight marketed as a skateboard in 1994. Loooooong before collecting, or making "collectible" skateboards, was the saavy thing to do. Not to say some Street Fighter heads didn't hold. Certainly true for Metallics from metal heads. And the Star Wars series from Plan B to the Jedi fruits. But still not very many. These were very short run skateboards. With every intent to be rode. And I think it can be said, with high level of confidence, most were.
Few other tid bits of information on these. These actually came from the Birdhouse archive that was slowly trickled out by Jeremy Klein, pro skater/ part owner. His was the only wood version. All the rest are slicks. At this point, this is the only set outside of the era. All from him. Intially there were 3 of us that had grabbed up one or the other. But the one guy eventually dealt with us to bring them together. The only unused one I've seen multiples of is the Hawk. And the same dude that owns the set, owns the multiple of that. Maybe used on some of the others here and there. Still not many. And never all.
I've got an email address if you're interested.
That's if you think you can swing an offer in excess of 5,000 dollars.
But even then, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Skateboards are cooler than money.

I ended up trading the Sagat for '93 101 Koston:

Summer '94

Right there along all the other skateboards that were meant to be rode. And were.

Nah, the whole set. Dude likes his stuff though. So while that may get a brow raised, I'd doubt they'd be moving on it. You'd have to up that ante'.

Those aren't 'skate graphics'. There was a whole sub-culture in skating that got obliterated in the early 90s. You could see it in the lack of 'style' in the skaters, too.

 ;D

I added a few stickers, most are just sitting on the boards for now until I determine whether or not to actually apply them.

The poop throwing monkeys & Carl Sagan cats are reeeeeeally eff'd up so I just had to buy them.

The rest are reissues, well kind of...they are recognizable to the old schoolers but not printed on the big pipe decks (all decks are between 8.0-8.75)

I quit long ago, but loved skating. My boards were as follows (in order of ownership):

Zorlac Metallica Spider

Loved your Zorlac Spider Deck.  Looks great in Purple.

I just got in a gray one today. Here are a few new ones in this month.

...nothing compared to astaley's collection of course.....

If you like the powell ripper decks, a few pics of decks here  http://s1014.photobucket.com/albums/af261/GatorALLin/#!cpZZ3QQtppZZ20
