MAME for PS3 Can someone please give me the "rundown" on this

So I hear that MAME has made its way to the PS3.   this sounds EXCELLENT as the PS3 is a powerhouse in terms of computing power and shoul be able to run all MAME games well.

So what is the deal, do I need to Mod/hack/crack my PS3 in order to do this (run MAME) or can it be done with a stock off the shelf PS3 slim?

you need to jailbreak it/custom firmware , that requires official firmware 3.55 or less

And once you do it, laying your fat ass on that big leather couch and playing on your gigantic flatscreen is going to trump playing it on a MAME cabinet every single time.

I agree. Would you say the MAME PS3 experience is better than on a PC hooked up to that same gigantic flatscreen?

more work is need to get mame to run as well as on a PC but it definitely has the potential mame just needs to be recoded to take advantage of the Cell and SPU units
