New sideart with IORI
« on: August 08, 2003, 04:21:37 pm »
He's only the best designed character ever - IORI!  Well, he's insane, too...but that only adds to the coolness.  Here is one I've been working on last few days, the same type of art I did Geese from - that series looks awesome but is a huge pain to trace well.  I think this is the best yet.  My co-workers didn't know it was vector :)

edit: oh yeah it's in the vector library.

I created new sideart, too, with the previous Geese and the new Iori.  The colors match the fighter theme on my cab.

What do you think?  Now I just gotta save for the printing costs....

As usual,very nice.
HOWEVER,if you are gonna be printing both sides then I suggest you make 2 different artwork instead of miroring the image with a different background.

I mean think about it.  :-\
You are paying a lot for sideart so why same on both sides.  ::)
Make a M.bison and akuma sideart using the images you already vectorized and you have it !

Also consider that custom laminate from Wilsonart.
Only $10 sq feet.
They do accept photoshop(info from trickyfisy).
Try to order a sample first maybe.

Other then my idea,VERY nice work ;D

Thanks...I was considering doing different sideart for each side, but I like Iori so much I think it'd look cool on both sides.  Which side would you change?  I would probably trace some new characters, I already use bison and akuma on the overlay.

What is this custom laminate from wilsonart? Maybe trickyfishy can put his 2 cents in.  I checked out wilsonart.com, but I would guess they have a minimum order...but I could be wrong.

I think a lot of people are going to be keeping an eye out on this one.

BTW, does your artwork ever suck.  Seriously, amazing.

Aaaaa damn, that looks good man!  Your vector art skills are just getting better and better.  I really like the way those side arts feel, and because they are vector, when theyre freaking huge, they're gonna look just as crisp.  Very clever stuff, and very awesome vector art.  Keep it up man!  If you need any input, ideas for some moderately easy to vector art, etc. gimme an IM on AIM sn: CthulhuLA      Im going off to college soon *9 days*, and Im getting a beefy computer, so hopefully I'll start making some vector stuff too, probably gonna be making a lot of overlays for people since I'll FINALLY have the room to do it on a computer.  I would have been making overlays for a while, but unfortunately, with a 6 gig hard drive, a celeron 333mhz, and no room anywhere, this computer just doesnt cut it for real overlays and such.

I would keep the red one.HOT ! !  :o
Then I would trace another M.bison and this akuma.

TOTALLY sideart material.
Best akuma ever drawn !  :D

Thanks for the feedback guys, it's nice to know people like this stuff since it does take many hours to trace.  Lots of interpretation with these last 2 I did.  I'm hoping this IORI will end up on someone's arcade somewhere :)

2600: thanks for the info about that thread.  I hope someone gives the custom laminate a try, it could be a perfect solution for us.

cthululuke: When you get your new system just make sure it's got a ton of memory.  You probably already know this.  That's actually more important than processor speed when dealing with huge photoshop files like we do.  I just ran into this problem when I built my mame cpu - I used half the memory from my day-to-day machine and now things are waaay too slow in photoshop.  Good luck at college :)

Snaaake:  That is a cool pic of akuma, but I already have him on the overlay.  I was thinking I might do chun li, or some other women on the other side.  I did that Morrigan and never used it...we'll see.  But I definitely agree that the red one I posted looks cooler than the blue one.  where do you find all these good pics??

He seems to have an 80's haircut and is dressed like Adam Ant!

Very nice though. Vector is definitely the way to go.

If you're looking for a picture of Chun Li to trace then there is a good one in the same style on this site:

Personally I would use one of the lesser known female characters such as Mai or Sakura (my favourite).

I think this pic I attached falls in the same catagory as that geese picture you vectorized.
NOW,what I would personally do is.
make the red side with geese howard and lori.
and other side with mai and cammy.
 :)
