If it is switchable, then it probably has a switch on the monitor PCB to do so. How many switches are on the monitor PCB?

If it isn't switchable, then you may be able to find a local collector who will trade you the proper sized standard res monitors. Mid res monitors are fairly uncommon compared to standard res ones, and someone local to you may need one.

Well it is either going to be one of three options.

An actual switch.

A wire that you move from one pin to another.

Or a different header for standard res.

Maybe you should find out your exact monitor model and try and find the manual to it?

Sounds like you too have a Nanao MS8-26U.  Download this:

http://cartman.noc.sbc.edu:8080/MS826U.pdf

Therein you will find diagrams and instructions on how to change your resolution.

LMK if you can't download that and I will email it to you...beware, it's large.
