How often do you drink/get drunk??

I'm constantly drinking a lot just to get a buzz. Here in Puerto Rico we have a beer called "Keystone" that has the same alcohol percentage as a bottle of Heineken, difference is that "Keystone" is in a can and costs only a buck. I need to change and just finish my damn arcade machine!!!

its an age thing though. back in the day I drank anything and never gained any weight. now my doc says "gotta cut down on things that make you happy!". I dont even know when was the last time I had a pepsi lol..(oh I could go for one right about now............)

Getting drunk is too expensive for me now.  I usually enjoy a beer or two a night to take the edge off the workday...amongst other substance abuses
But it's definitely quality beer-drinking...it's not hot enough around here to enjoy the "light" beers.

You should be able to get Presidente or Caribe for $1.  You can get Heineken that cheap if you look a little.

Decent rum should only run you $4-5 a bottle.

What's wrong with keystone? I don't drink that much rum except DonQ Lemon , Bailey's or Captain Morgan Coconut flavor with pineapple juice. You've been here in Puerto Rico?

Yep. Love Cruzan coconut flavored too. There a few cheap puerto rican rums 'round here. Not a big fan of bacardi though...

Keystone? Really? Gives me headaches, tastes like watery ass, and I think there's metal shavings at the bottom of the can.  I agree with the person who suggested local rum.  Or grow some weed, or something. 

The US has gone thru a beer renaissance in the last decade or so.  Lots of microbrews and specialty beers available just about anywhere.  I really like this one:

Hahaha Doh! Relax, I don't do it everyday and if I drink, I do it just to get the "buzz" effect. I know people that drink until they throw up their livers... yep pretty crazy.

Same here.  I run a LOT in the mornings so I rarely drink because it kills the motivation to get out of bed.  I drink a few times a year - New Year's and then maybe one or two other times for a special occasion.  I used to drink a lot more whn I was younger but it has lost its appeal.

@newman117, what was your reason for posting this question? Your comment "I'm constantly drinking a lot just to get a buzz" either hints at you having a drink problem, being on your way to having a drink problem or wondering if you have a drink problem.

Ultimately, regardless of how much you drink or how much others perceive you are drinking, if you think you are drinking too much or too often (even if it's one beer a week or 12 beers a day) then cut down or stop. Most alcoholics minimize their drinking. Until they admit that they drink too much, no one's comments on an Internet forum is going to make the slightest difference.

If your drinking isn't an issue at all or you are not having even the slightest niggle about the volume or frequency that you drink, then I wonder why you made your initial post. If the answer is "just curious" I would ask why were you curious if you weren't concerned about your own drinking habits?

My father is an alcoholic (dry for over 20 years now  ) and so are so many people I have worked with. Very few of them ever acknowledge that their drinking is an issue, as unfortunately the media portrays alcoholics as bums who slur their words and beat their partners. The reality is (as was the case with my father) the majority of alcoholics in society are functioning alcoholic

I have a friend who is a functioning alcoholic. Recently he has started to ask the same questions you have raised. Usually they are followed up a few weeks later with statements like "I think I am going to have a break from the beer. I'm going to go a month without a drink" and every Monday without fail he comes into work having had a drink or three over the weekend. He always has an excuse like "the big game was on TV" or "My girlfriends dad came for dinner and we had some wine" or "I only had a couple, what's wrong with chilling out with a couple of beers?"

The interesting point with him is that I never raise the subject of his drinking with him, he does. When I point out that it was HIS idea to go a few weeks without a drink, he gets defensive when he is unable to achieve this.

Well thats a kind of a bummer turn this thread went down.

I got the betes so I cant drink too much anymore. I used to drink like a fish back in high school. Im a beer fan though. Someone else mentioned a lot of the micro brews popping up as of late. I like IPAs and stouts. There is a cool brewery here in San Diego called Ballast Point. They name all their beers after fish you can catch in the area. They are super tasty.

I also brewed my own beer once, it was really good actually. I called it Zufeweizen. My last name is german and I love me some hefeweizen.

Me too! great 'hobby'  really taught me to appreciate interesting beers not just the sterile cold filtered stuff that passes for it these days.  Well, it was a good hobby till I got impatient waiting for my brews to sit and age, I even slurped the wort direct from the fermenter a few times - warm an yeasty!

Technically, for my weight, I'm legally drunk in my local if I have three shots and two beers within two hours.

thats why i added in the for the most part...  people can drink regularly and not die from liver failure...  thats like saying people that play games too much may die from epilepsy and the families will have to suffer because they will die in that fashion

or people who ride go karts too much may die from exhaust fumes and the families will suffer from them dying in that fashion

you can go your life and have no fun and be boring and your family will suffer from seeing you die in that fashion

That just depends where you work.  At my current job, it's not uncommon for people to have a few drinks during the day.  Hell, we even have a liquor cabinet in the kitchen.
