Ultimate 3 Sided Cocktail Table
« on: October 23, 2010, 09:31:54 pm »
Hello All I would like to share my W.I.P of my three sided cocktail table. I always wanted one but after scouring the net looking for kits I discovered that they call for small CRT monitors, ugh  :dizzy: Mind you I should've e-mailed to see if they could mod the kit for a 32in LCD TV. So that being said I decided to go with some buddies of mine at Arcade Services here in Indianapolis. Also after talking to my better half we decided to go all out and use a 42 in Visio TV.

This posting shows some preliminary progress on the table as we work thru it. In hindsight which is always 20/20, I should have made the table a wee bit shorter but oh well.  ;D

Thanx Cmoses  ;D  More W.I.P. The next group of pictures show things like the TV mount, Space for the Blu-Ray drive, how the top looks, car speakers, console drawer. etc.

The next set of pictures shows nearing completion. Table is now moved from the shop to home. I ended up ordering the following, IPAC-2, Ultralux buttons (no word yet on Electric Ice buttons they seem to be on indefininate backorder  :hissy: ) WII & PS3 Console adapters, about 9 daisy chain harnesses, and earlier today I went over to retroarcades to order 4 lighted perfect 360 joysticks. I like the idea of using TV(s) for my projects because connecting other things like consoles are a snap, no need for extra gimmicky stuff for it to display  ;D right now I just have the Wii hooked to it and I haven't wired up the IPAC yet. I am currently working on mounting up the PC and stuff. I think I will have 2 power supplies. One will handle the PC the other will handle powering the joysticks, fans, and buttons. More on that next W.I.P keep the comments coming.

if you get one of those clip-on nets, you can make this double as a ping pong table (or other types of pong)  :)

Small pictureless update. I finally got my lighted joysticks from Dream Authentics. So I got those in place and wired up most of the panels in the cab as far as lights go. Now all I have left to do is wire up the controls to the IPAC. And last but not least mount the computer for the emulators and I'm done.

Buttons are Ultralux from Ultimarc. I didn't get the boards for them to flash etc. as I am kinda tapped out. They will be constant on. Which reminds me I'ma hafta buy some more wire for the fans and get those done.  :P

Ok, I got the lights wired up. Since there are so many lights and 4 joysticks all require +5v, What I did to make things easy was use a ATX power supply and wire it to be on when  current hits it. I also used molex & butt connectors. I have the PC motherboard mounted. Now all I have to do is finish wiring to the IPAC and mount the power supply and hard drive(s) and find a way to tack up some of the wires so it's not so messy. Neat wiring hasn't been one of my strong points  :-[
