Examples: Neo Geo, CP3, Naomi, etc.

Is there a list of games in mame that are emulated better (read: faster) than mame can?

Neo-Geo & CPS3 MAME does a good job. For NAOMI use Makaron T12_3.

Okay.  However when I've run SFIII it asks me to load the cd and then takes a long time to read the rom before being ready to play?

Let it load. The next time won't take nearly as long. It's initializing and writing the file on your hard-drive.
