MameWah and playing MP3's while playing a game?
« on: August 01, 2003, 05:41:47 pm »
Question for Minwah?

Is there an plan to add the option of playing MP3's in the background while playing a game?  I played around with the option in Emulaxian FE and thought it was really cool to have the arcade sound in the background.

Thanks,

Steve

Its an option in the audio options. Just tell it what folder to look for.

You mean while actually playing a game (not browsing the list)?  This is not an option, the music would get confused with the game music.

If you meant while browsing the games list, meta87 is spot on :)

Hi,

Yeah,  I was looking to have it play music in the background while the game is running.  Emulaxian does this and I thought it was kinda of cool.

On another note, first off let me say that Mame Wah is pretty awesome, I  use it as my primary windows FE (running Fastmame).  I did however come across one thing, when I try to load a game that has some issues for one reason or a another, such as it has some error that causes not to load.  I noticed that Mame wah will lock up and I can't return to the game list menu.  Is there anyway to correct this, I'm not sure if I'm missing something in the Mamewah set up?

Thanks,

Steve

Sorry, I don't plan to have an option for the music to continue while playing :(

The 'lock up' you describe is due to a game having a bad dump.  MAMEWAH is not locked up, rather MAME is waiting for a keypress which it can never receive (since the DOS type box is not visible).

3 Choices:

1) Turn the 'Show DOS Box' option to 'Yes' (all games will work but looks a bit crap),

2) Compile your own MAME build which skips that part,

3) Wait for the 'Auto Show' DOS Box feature of MAMEWAH to be fixed (downside is a longer delay while launching games)...
