pacman themed overlay
« on: July 30, 2003, 05:49:51 pm »
Ok, I've been working on making a pacman themed overlay.  I hae a design nowhere near the point where I can show it.  It works around and with the controls.  Like buttons will match colors or make power pellets.

But for now I decided to try the simple cut and paste job.  Note, where this pic is grey would be the hammered metal paint on my cabinet.  And the colors are a little off.

I like it, but I think the black outlines are too thick.  I also think the ghosts and Pac are a tish to big.  Looks cool though.  Interested in seeing the other one you are working on too

I'm digging it - you can't go wrong with giant close ups of game characters :)  I think it looks fine as-is..maybe play with colors more to more closely match your buttons but that's just tweaking.

Looks great. I'd suggest doing a full-on overlay though. Personally, I wouldn't have any of that paint show through. It's your cab but I think it would make for a nicer look to have a complete overlay.

I love the look though.
If you build a frankenpanel, chances are I don't care for you as a person.

Funny, as it comes right from the sideart/bezel.

Brax, have you seen the paint on my cab!  I love that paint.
Actually, if it was possible to make a stick-on overlay with gradients to transparency I'd be set.  I have to screenprint the graphic on to get that effect though.  I'd like to make my cabinet look like it has graphitti on it but that is not cost effective.  Unless I find someone to air brush that on.....

Yup, I've seen your paint. Honestly, I think it's too much. I have no problem with you liking it though.  ;D To each, his own. I just thought it would look a little more "classic" if you stuck to a more traditional style overlay. The artwork is perfect btw.  :D

You should see what I am trying to do witht he sideart.  Maybe I will have someone airbrush the cabinet.  I think a graphitti look would go great with the metal look.

I originally wanted a classic look.  But EVERYONE seems to do a classic look.
