Please help me identify this component!!
« on: May 06, 2010, 04:41:47 pm »
A Magic Sword PCB of mine had these "caps?" broken off and need to be replaced. I'm not super component savvy so I need some help identifying what they are and how to find them. They're very egg shaped have some polarity judging by the screening on the board and are reddish-brown.

Any help is most appreciated! Let me know if more pics are required.

Thanks!

Tantalum capacitor.  They're getting a little hard to find in that package anymore, but they're still around.  You can also often find ceramics of comparable value (and much better other stats) in a compatible package.

Bought the board off of a guy on KLOV with the busted caps on it for cheap, board looks good otherwise. Building out a superGun ATM so I figured if I can take a stab at fixing the board and get a few others I'll have a good testing ground for my superGun and to start converting/finishing more cabs.
