Rock n Bowl pics and help
« on: April 15, 2010, 06:58:09 pm »
Here are some pictures of the inside of my rock n bowl redemption game I am trying to get working.  All of the boards look good.  When I got it there was only power going to the power supply board and the lights.  Now I have power going to the game board and some power going to the counter board.  Everytime I turn it on I get no display or something different on the counter board.  Here are some pics.  Any ideas of what to do next?

I dont know if it is technically a restoration, just trying to get the game working.  I had a suggestion in one of my other threads to change the power supply, even though most of the game is getting power.

I would talk to kevin mullens on this board, I think at some point he was working on one for someone..  attached is the pdf manual if you don't already have it. I thought that the board needs to have a green light on not a red light which would be most likely a power supply issue, possibly not getting the correct voltage? Worse case contact bromley..

could need new caps on the pcb.

If you have some extra cash maybe snag an extra pcb board for that machine. can't hurt to have a spare.

Ive got that manual, and funnily enough I ordered that board yesterday, just to have and in case that is the problem.  The board that the transformer connects too only has a red light on it.  The game board has a red, yellow, and green and those all turn on.  Thanks for any suggestions and help. Hopefully Ill figure it out eventually, it seems close.

Sorry I hadn't gotten back to ya on this sooner..... since the manual is pretty useless when a machine is as dead as yours is I was hoping to get down to where the machine is that I've worked on to take some voltage readings for you. (to compare yours with) But I hadn't been back down there in awhile.

Initially it sounds like the main board to me.
Since that display board is only showing random stuff, sounds like the processor is not running correctly in some ways. That same display is what would show any error codes if there were any, but since it's just showing jibberish then it's kinda pointless.

Does it do anything different if you push the audit buttons and whatnot ?
You could also try unplugging anything like the ticket dispensor and such just to see if it acts any different. (unplug anything not absolutely needed) Might pop an error, but that's kinda what you want right now.

Set all your dipswitches to the default if you haven't already just so you have them set to something we can refer back to.

That same main board was used in a few other games, but quite honestly I don't remember which all ones they were.
