NES on the Iphone and wiimote
« on: March 07, 2010, 05:13:54 pm »
I got NES for the Iphone working, but the controls are for ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---
but then I found out you can use the wiimote and it works a lot better, there is still a slight lag but it is pretty amazing what you can do on that little damn phone

You have to do a soft-hack to get all this stuff to work, but it's really easy and reversible
I probably wouldn't have tried it if I didn't really need to use my Iphone as a wifi hotspot for my computer when we lost power for a few days (the only way to do it is through that soft-hack)

here is video someone made of it (good stuff starts at 2:48)

So it's a delayed response with Wiimotes...
And if you really want to play it on the go with decent controls, you need to bring a controller that rivals the size and weight of the iphone itself?

I'll pass.

Agreed.  It seems pointless to put it on an iPhone if you have to carry around a separate controller.  Might as well get another portable for emulation at that point. ;-)

I installed an NES emulator on my Droid and even with the keyboard, it's a nightmare to try and play anywhere competently.  Ended up uninstalling.

I think its pretty cool. Its probably not that playable compared to other emu's/setups but its cool just for the 'because you can' factor

That is pretty neat "just cause you can" type.

Though, even if I get a smart enough phone for emulators, I dont think they will replace my Dingoo for gaming on the go.

I'm happy with my modded PSP for gaming on the go. I have a NES emulator on my phone that works fine in terms of accuracy, but the controls are horrid. I never even use it.
