Looks pretty slick. Love how you incorporated the steering wheel in the CP. Unfortunately it's on the wrong side  :P

I will pretend I didn't see that....

I saw it!!  >:D  Damned colonials, they just haven't got a clue... It's all the salt water tea, it rots their brains you know...  :laugh2:

Something like ahikibarashop????

http://www.akihabarashop.jp
http://www.akihabarashop.com

Unfortunately the dot com one now just reads UPDATING and the JP one reads Coming Soon.

Akihabara is a district of Tokyo that mostly consists of electronics retail stores, and the arcade parts shop is located 100 yards from Akihabara station on the Tokyo loop line. So the only way you're going to be purchasing from them right now is to get a plane to Tokyo and..... you get the idea....

The guy who runs Akihabarashop posts frequently on the forums on shoryuken.  His username is "The Real Neo Geo"

If you check out the trading forum there you can find a thread completely about their "shop".  It might tell you when they're going to be back up and running, or if hes doing any orders when the site is down

Well here is the start of mine. I managed to buy the cab with all the controls etc for $50.00. Only thing was the monitor was dead. So I just gutted the cab and added a 27" TV and mounted a PC for MAME.

Anyhow my panel is going to modular so here is its beginings.....

Now some of the modular panel which can be swapped via din connections etc when done. I figure the whole panel can be swapped in about 30 secs to 1 minute

Just finished my new controls today. I have done the artwork in Illustrator myself. I have used a x-arcade PCB and 2 sanwa balltop joysticks. Hope you like it.

I have almost finished my control panel.  The only thing left to do is wire it up!!! ;D

I love the way the poster came out.  The edge where the poster is short will be covered with some trim when the cabinet is done.

This is my best CP to date.

Is this a metal control panel if so what are the dimensions? I'm looking to make a metal control panel similar to yours. I just wasn't sure if i could fit it all in. I would love to see more pictures of that machine looks great.

spicolli, Will you please measure your control panel and give the measurements? I love it!

And what is that symbol on the middle, it really gives it character.

You mentioned in another thread that you are making a mark II? Can you share details on that?

I built this about 5 months ago. I still need to put cup holders on the sides. The 2 red balls on the front allow players 1 and 2 to switch between 4-way and 8-way joystick positions.
Thanks to arzoo and his Arcade Addiction and also thanks to Supercade for the inspiration.

The measurements are:

Top   31Wx12L    the front is 21W

the area from the back to the angle cut is 7 7/8L
the remaining of the angle is left over from the 12L measurement
also it is 3 tall (just the same hight of my J-sticks

Bottom   44Wx20L and the front is 23 5/8W

the area from the back to the angle cut is 9 3/4L
the remaining of the angle is left over from the 20L measurement

Box         4 1/4 deep in the back and 3 deep in front
the sides is 3/4 under the CP (clearance on both sides)
the front has 1 1/4 lip clearance (to fit the hinge)

What i did was make the top of the CP and then the box! this gave me a better idea on room for controls and the foot print under the CP

more to follow when i get more time to post!  :)

also, Umpa you CP looks good!

Finished my control panel last night. I don't have the rest built yet, only the top. I like how Juggernaut's head was the perfect spot for the spinner.
EDIT: I've changed the Happy Universal joysticks to U360 Balltops and added another white button (next to player 2, just like player 1 has).
Before, with Happ Universals:

After, wtih U360s:

A little rough, and the stickers are garish, but a nice idea nonetheless. Fairly comfortable-looking sit-down. If you had brought forward the bezel panel, you could've put in a bigger, more angled monitor.

Thanks for the reply-yes it is a little rough lol-believe me i'm no carpenter but my housemate was pushing me to finish it hence the rushed look.

Like i said most of the bits we already had-including the 19" lcd monitor-so it is definately a 'budget build'-and i've learnt a lot so far on this one which i can utilise on mk2 which will hopefully have a larger screen and proper cp with overlay etc. i was planning on getting some perspex etc. for the cp but was worried about cutting the holes?

Also the reason the monitors where it is is because i made the cp to be able to pivot up so it would fit through doors etc. but doesnt quite alas-oh well. ;D

Oh. A fold-up panel. I'd wondered about the inside of the 'hood'. Well, I don't know how often anyone else would move such a thing, but if it were me I'd just make it detachable for the rare case needing it.
