I'm not sure where you get that they are the same company.

This thead from the AutoIt forum and this one from the AutoHotKey forum indicate that they are not the same company and not even very friendly.  It seems that AutoHotKey is based on the source code for AutoIt V2.
Second link doesn't work by the way.  It appears you are right, however.  I used AutoIt back in the V1 days I think and hadn't heard of AutoHotKey until HowardCasto started using it with Johnny5.  I think I went to AHK's site and saw it was based on AutoIt V2, so I ASSuME'd AutoIt just changed their name.

I fixed the second link.

Ahh the power of having low friends in High places.  I was able to get 10 guns for $300 total.  So keep your eyes peeled on ebay for em.   Of course I am keeping 2 for myself to implement in my cab.

If anyone is still interested in bulk buying contact me and I will still see if I can get the same deal

you are better off mounting the stands externally on the walls of the cab. why you have to have them internally i cant figure out.. its going to give you no end of a  headache in terms of caliberation etc

he wants to put them on the inside so it's not an eyesore.  as for calibration, it won't matter where they are, as long as you change your calibration routine to match.  and if i'm not mistaken, you only have to calibrate with the stands once, so what's the big deal?

if you guys work out the rest of the bugs, i'm just gonna buy a pair and just drill holes in my bezel for the led's to peek through.

I hardly think that mounting thin BLACK stands externally to a black cab will be an eyesore.

I think drilling through a bezel is a far more risky operation.
These led stands are terribly temprmental and can react adversly due to a lack/burst of light..

well, not everyone has a black cab.  mine is red and white on the sides, and to me, anything sticking off the flat sides of my cabinet is an eyesore.  they didn't stick the led's on the outside of the cabinet for house of the dead, so i don't know why anyone here would have to.

and anyways, where's your byoac spirit?  it's all about what you can do to mod an existing product to work perfectly and integrate seamlessly into your cabinet.  in theory, you should be able to take each led pcb and seperate them even more or scrunch them together, as long as they stayed in one place and you recalibrated after any resituation.  it's reading distances from the led's to the point of the gun, so like any kind of triangulation, as long as you know what the values are for three points, you should be accurate everywhere.

You could use AutoHotkey again, to re-map it.... That should work.  I must say I haven't tried it yet, but there's no reason it shouldn't solve that problem.

Best Regards,

Doh! Why didnt I think of that!

Yes, I have Autohotkey scripts for HOD1, HOD2 and HOD3.

In HOD1,  you can move the mouse cursor with the cursor key of the keyboard or with the pad of the TopGun if you map the keys.

**EDIT**
When I get home, i'll post my scripts for this 3 games.

this would be perfect if you could share this.

What did you map, player 1 start button to - the trigger or your cabs p1 button?

I only have ONE gun..

The House of the Dead (thod.ahk)

well I have fold down drink holders on the side of my cab, do you consider that an eyesore? My LED stands stand on each side of my bezel.
I know what your saying about hotd, but this gun system is far more fussy , trust me on that one. all i have to do is open my kitchen door and turn the light on for the gun to stop working..

the gun work more fine if which be keep minimize 8 ft from the LED stand

Success at last courtesy of all the great advice in this thread.

Now have MAME games working fantastically.

One unfortunate thing is I took off my smoked glass to fit the LED stands next to the monitor & to calibrate & test the games.

Now with the smoked glass back on there is no crosshair in the games. Probably due to the gun not seeing the LED stands as well????

Hey!! Thanks for sharing your scripts with us!! These are great, I just tried them out.  It would have taken me a whole evening to come up with anything near to these and debug them.

I might tweak them a bit for my own use, but they're great source.

A BIG THANKS AGAIN!!!!

Does anyone know of a way to force the Digital Leisure games (Mad Dog McCree, Mad Dog II, etc) to run full screen when they start up?

I have copied them off of the CD's onto my harddrive so don't need the CD to play them, but I'd like them to start up in fullscreen.

I can write an AutoIt script to do it, but I'd prefer not to go that route if I don't have to.

lord knows - I have this problem too.
I used autoit to simulate a key press of the F button, nut everytime I launch with that via mamewah, it skips straight to the difficulty select screen, completely missing the intro movie. Im kind of anal about things like that, so it irritates the heck outta me...

I was having the same problem until I realised that I needed to send "f" and not "F".

Try it it works.

Off topic a bit but I noticed eveyone is talking about HOTD 1-3.  Are you guys playing this as a PC game?  When I run HOTD in MAME on a 3ghz pc it's pretty slow.  I get my guns this Friday so I would like to try this after a few rounds of Duck Hunt.  If it's a PC game then maybe I can have it setup by the time the guns arrive.

thanks,
Steve

Yes, it seems that this game have the auto reload always enabled. There is not a problem about troubleshooting. The problem is the game.

Damn, im really jealous of you guys who have HOTD 3 running. Im using a 1800 athlon PC, 1 gig of RAM and 32 mb graphics card and I cant even get the game to start!

However, I have a question to those of you who have put HOTD 1 on their cab - do you get any CD audio on this game? I have NONE. Even after mounting the CD image.

And why hasnt anyone shown any love for virtua cop??!

a word of warning - I run mamewah as my shell and tried to launch the troubleshooter games from it - it didnt work. Yet if i exit to explorer and launch the games, they work just fine.
This is because the troubleshooter executable is loaded as a process by explorer, if you use a different shell, you have to create a batch file, as i did, to launch troubleshooter prior to the pc gun game, and kill the troubleshooter process upon exit.
Since adding this to my batch files, my troubleshooter hacked pc games launch from mamewah just fine.

Have moved the LED stands to top and bottom of monitor as opposed to left & right.

Tried to set up again & did following.

1. Uninstalled Wingun & rebooted
2. Reloaded Wingun onto PC
3. Attach gun to USB port
4. PC recognises gun as GunCon device and asks me for drivers.
5. Point Hardware Wizard to WinGun folder.
6. Hardware Wizard tells me it needs Smog Industries GunCon.sys file

Have copied GunCon.sys file and pointed Hardware wizard to it which is great as it tells me my hardware is installed & ready to use except when I open up WinGun to calibrate gun & configure buttons it won't detect the gun.

Bound to be missing something obvious!

arent you supposed to install the drivers first?

and another thing.. didnt you say you already had the gun working before you put your glass/bezel over the monitor?
if al you are doing is simply moving the LED stands, all you need to do is re-caliberate, and not reinstall drivers...right?

Your'e right on both counts but I've done it now & need to get it working again!

I am installing the drivers first but when i then plug the gun in the following message comes up

"The file GunCon.sys from Smog industries Inc HID drivers is needed"

This didn't come up when I got the gun working on Wingun yesterday!!!!

Any ideas?

YES!  You're on windows XP.... Do a system roll back to before you installed the drivers yesterday.

Then you should have a completely clean system to work with again. At the moment you have various bits of drivers confilicting with each other and with various components of them screwing up your system.  Do a roll back and you can start again with a clean fresh install.

That is assuming that you haven't added anything else to the system since yesterday.

Does anyone know how I can get a gun sight showing in games such as Virtua Cop 1,2 and House of the Dead 1 on the PC as well as ePSXe games such as Time Crisis and Point Blank? (all using Troubleshooter)

I'd like to be able to see a target representing where my gun is pointing, and I can't seem to find a way to do it in those games, in House of the Dead 2 and 3 for instance there is a gun sight.

Well there IS one for HOTD 1 and V Cop 2/1, only the troubleshooter and the way it works, disables them. When you actually shoot you can see it

I was wondering if there was some kind of external program that can draw a gun sight on top of the game's window, showing where the mouse is pointing.

As for ePSXe games, the emulator has a built in gun sight that shows up when you hit F5, this is being disabled for some reason when using The Troubleshooter, even though it is not set to hide the gun sight in The Troubleshooter's configuration. any ideas how to show it again? perhaps a plug-in?

yes thats true, the troubleshooter disables gun sight even when you enable it.
I have no idea why.

Then again, why must you have gun sight - I dont recall gun sight being on the original HOTD and Virtua Cop arcades..... or I could be wrong.

Cant you use your laser beam as a worst case scenario

Success with the system restore but no success with having the LED stands on the top and bottom of the monitor instead of left and right.

Tried various combinations but with no success. Could not get calibration!

I'm having a hard time calibrating the gun to perfection, and I seem to get inconsistent accuracy across the screen, so I prefer to rely on a screen target rather than on my gun's targets.

The beam does not take into consideration the inconsistency, it will always aim at certain fixed offset, while the actual target in the game has a variable offset.

well hotd 1 and virtua cops 1 and 2 are clunky at best with the troubleshooter, not to mention the delayed /missed trigger response on occasion as well as sight inaccuracy.

HOTD 2 seems to work flawlessly in my experience.
I disable the troubleshooter for that game.

I hardly think that mounting thin BLACK stands externally to a black cab will be an eyesore.

Not that it matters, but I would disagree and say I think they would be an eyesore.  Or at least they would look 'odd'.  I'd rather have the LED's mounted in the bezel somewhere.

Thats not always pratical, especially if someone already has artwork on their bezel.

How did you mount yours? got any pics?

I mounted mine either side of my bezel (not on the outside walls of the cab) and they look just fine. cab is black, bezel is black and stands are  black.

I'll post some pics as example tonight. I suggest others do the same - lets share our mounting ideas.

When you change the orientation of the LED stands, you need to change the calibration somewhat.

The first calibration shot goes to same group of LED's that used to be at the top left.  It should now be at the top right or bottom left.  After that you follow the same pattern as before before for that shots at the screen, Center, Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Right, Bottom Left.

Real Life.  Still a poor substitute for video games!

I am very close to having a generic launcher for the Digital Leisure/American Laser Games.

It uses an INI file to setup the game options, then you pass it a parameter to tell it which game to launch.  You can define a "reload" sound to use on a per game basis.

The commad line will look like this: ALGLaunch <parameter>

The parameter can be any string you want (mdm, "Mad Dog McCree"), but it has to match to a section name in the .ini file.

I still need to test it at home tonight before I make it available.

That's great Erik... Much better than having an individual launcher for each of the 7 games.  (9 games if you count the ones that are not really available yet)...

guys please help.

Today I tested my mame32 .89 with the gun for the first time.
NOTHING WORKS!
The gun tracks the windows mouse cursor, but when I launch mame32 and a game for testing, say dragon gun, the gun does not move the game cursor, yet moving my actual mouse DOES!

Please help, this is driving me mad

okay , wingun hates my mame32, I installed a regular command line mame.exe and it worked fine.

Problem is, I use version 0.89.
Could someone PLEASE compile me a commandline version of mame 0.89 to fix games such as lethal enforcers?
