Building a MAME Bartop, PC Questions
« on: December 28, 2018, 03:01:42 pm »
Going to be building a bartop, and I wanted to re-use some components I have here. My last MAME build was probably 12 years ago with a C2D and a CRT in an old bowling cabinet.

Things I know/have already
  • Leaning towards a Haruman EVO XR 2
  • Dell 2001fp 20.1 4:3 1600x1200 LCD
  • i7-2600 motherboard w/32GB RAM, 128GB SSD. I know the i7-2600 is a bit old now, but it should perform fine for anything I'd be willing to play (I think it should do Blitz @ 100% in my last testing)

Things I need some advice with
  • Is a Radeon R5 340X suitable for BGFX/HLSL @ 1600x1200? If not, what else is good in that price range? I've seen a couple posts recommending it. I also do wish t o play Naomi games
  • With BGFX being cross platform, is there any benefit to Windows or should I run with a slim Linux distro?

Thanks! Appreciate any info!
