How to match up Emumovies artwork with Rom file names?
« on: July 08, 2014, 12:32:32 pm »
I am having loads of trouble figuring this out.  I have hyperspin and hundreds of mp4 files and jpg artwork box covers etc.  However, everything is inappropriately named and I have no idea how to rename it correctly.  I've tried several pieces of software that have no manual or explanation of how to do anything and I just cant quite figure it out (not to mention the numbers of errors, lagging, freezing and crashing these programs offer up!).

So far I have a NES.dat file which, from what I understand, has all the correctly named files for hyperspin and I used clrmamepro to rename the roms, that worked.  It's everything else I can't figure out. Renaming the artwork to match the roms.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

I don't use hyperspin. But with emu movies art I downloaded I used a program called fat match. You point it to the location of the roms, then the pics. You hit start. Then you go to the results find a tab at the top and select best match. Then click rename. And your done.

Yup!!! Came here to post that.  That seems to be the only program that works for me.  But it doesn't matter since i just went platinum on hyperspin so I can use the hypersync feature.  What a godsend, it does everything for you.

GameEx will automatically download artwork and media if you put your EmuMovies login credentials in the Setup Wizard program. It uses fuzzy matching to determine what media to download.

I'm a little late to the party here, but wanted to throw this solution into the ring as well:

http://www.waste.org/~winkles/fuzzyRename/

it was designed to help sync up roms<->images/movies which appears to be the exact issue you're working through.

I've used Fuzzy Rename as well. Good program.

Before I found out about emumovies and fat match. I googled and downloaded 1 screenshot at a time and renamed them manually for the n64. It took me hours. Then I found emumovies and felt dumb and used.

I spent a long time..(at work teehee...) matching the filienames of my snaps with the roms of the console games one by one) and now...i'm going to do video snaps....i think its best to have the pictures in place first (in maximus arcade that is) so that the picture shows for a second first and then the video...i think you have to subscribe to that site to get an all in one download...but that downloader doesn't change the file names do they? they just download whatever you have in your directories with the same names??
I don't know. I haven't tried it.

I guess i will try that program fatmatch

oh man I did that too a few months ago. It took a long time!   Only I brought the files to work and did it at my desk while I had nothing to do. Glancing on the screen it's just a bunch of folders ..could have been work related ..who knew?
I have a picture frame on my desk that acts as a mirror so I can see behind me.   I just discovered emumovies and now I want to put movies snaps in.
My problem is I changed the names of many of the console roms to match the pictures or to just make them display with proper full spelling.
So I got alot of mismatches.but I will try fat match next with the ones that dropped out from emumovies downloader.
I didn't touch the names of the mame roms.
