Shortly I'll be getting yet another project, a Contender bartop (Nintendo inspired) from Rick @ Gameroom Designs Canada. I picked the black melamine finish as I figure it will be one less thing to do! LOL

In going with the black, and the cabinet being inspired by Nintendo I thought I would go with a Punch-Out theme. I know Punch-Out was dual monitor (the bartop will not be), but Punch-Out is a machine I dont have in my existing line up.

I got the marquee and side art images in vector from various sorces online, and with the help of fellow BYOAC users I've created (and almost completed) a custom CPO (control panel overlay). Up next is a custom bezel for the project.

I'm not going to post this in the project thread yet....as I still need to pick up the cabinet. However I do want to get some ideas and feedback from you guys on the site.

You can see the control panel in this thread : http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,138755.0.html

Where I would like some advice is on button and joystick balltop colors.
I know Nintendo joysticks had a black ball top. I'm thinking green ? Thoughts ?
Also for buttons, I'm thinking white Japanese buttons OR illuminated buttons (all be it I am unsure how to power them from a PC power supply).

Lastly, I think I'll use an existing spare PC I have kicking around in this project.
I have a Hyperspin External HDD that I purchased awhile ago, complete with artwork, videos, etc. I've never found a home for it.......so I think this poject would be perfect.

I like to use MaLa most times, but I want to deplete my inventory of parts kicking around.

Anythoughts would be great.

Regarding the bezel I have the following ideas : (this is from another thread)

I'm @ work and not on the PC. But I'm getting ideas down on paper here.
I think I'll use the green, grey and white color scheme from the original CPO.
I'm thinking to add back the circles as they are on the DK bezel, but only 3.
Leaving the left corner without a circle and adding the full size character art from the Punch-Out flyer. The other corners will have the Glass Joe & Bald Bull images.
Also thinking of adding the gloves to the other circle.

I'd like to thank "JD Fan" for all his help with this project.
Both he and "thatpurplestuff" provided me with some of the artwork
elements I'll be using for this project. Not only did they save me time,
but they provided much cleaner results than I could do myself.
And as I sit here and draw out ideas at work, JD Fan has helped me
by providing the required art to make my ideas come to life.
