JAMMA input emulation
« on: July 24, 2010, 09:59:26 am »
Greeting,
I have this issue:

I have one arcade game, that I finally run on my Windows computer. All security and other checks are fixed now.
I have issue with input. Tha game itself took control just from JAMMA board (which I dont own). Is there any way how to "emulate" this board and eg. send PC keybard/joystick input to this "emulated" card? AC game should read this input and become to react on it.

Its not under MAME. Thanks.
(like joy2key send keys from one device to another, is there any way how to send pc keyboard keyt to JAMMA-like device)? Thanks.

I'm trying to picture everything you said but, I got lost.

But if understood it correclty, you have a cabinet with a JAMMA game (PCB is missing).
You want to use the JAMMA wiring to for the PC.

If so, all you need is a J-Pac at Ultimarc.com

But that will be hardware solution and not sortware.

I have game from a arcade.
And i want to run it on normal PC (without any JAMMA parts).
Game itselfs take input just from JAMMA. There is no other setup or key remap inside game.

So i want to emulate JAMMA board to use keyboard/joystick input from PC.

I fount MAME Hooker - http://dragonking.arcadecontrols.com/static.php?page=aboutmamehooker
but it send out just to I/O Warrioir etc and not JAMMA.

I'm still confuse of what you have or what you want to do.

You have an Arcade Game (PCB Arcade Game with Jamma Edge)
Then you want to HOOK this Game to a PC ? or you want to Hook the GAME to a PC MONITOR (VGA/SVGA)?

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

You want to hook the PCB from the arcade cab to your pc?

Then use the pc controllers to replace the arcade joystick etc?

Kinda like a reverse j-pac?

he wants to bootleg one of the modern PC based arcade games by running it on a PC without the custom JAMMA card / inputs, hence the vagueness of the whole thing.

needless to say, I won't be providing any help here.

Sounded pretty fishy to me. I don't blame ya, Haze.
