First Cab - first post
« on: February 24, 2010, 12:03:02 pm »
Hi! I', pretty new to the whole Cab-thing. I'm not so talented with wood, neither have I got good tools... so I started with a X-Arcade Tankstick (Please, don't flame me! :'(). I always dreamed of a cabinet so I asked my grandpa to build the corpus for me. Gave him my plans and he started, finishing it in only four weeks. Build from scratch.
Now, I'm pretty much finished with the main part of my project. Everything is up and running with Hyperspin. 23'' LCD Screen inside, Pentium4 3GHz PC. The CP can be easily replaced with a "real" one, as soon as I have the skills to build one myself. Parts and wiring are no problem for me, just the woodwork is. But this forum really inspires me to start something, maybe a bartop...? Anyways, here some pics of my cabinet, artwork still in development...

Thanks for the feedback and good luck with your cab! I'm definitely a happier man since I now have it in my gamingroom...  ;D

Props to Grandpa, how cool is that...I started the same way, I think I had a hammer and some screw drivers, now I have every tool just about, and doubles. This forum is my favorite, blows my mind sometimes, check out OND/futuristic cab, dude has mad skills and has taught me alot of things by reading his posts....

I've built a bartop, as a gift for my brother, you can get by without a whole lot of tools, if you want to be more involved in the build, have someone (grandpa) cut it out, and you assemble....

this forum is awesome, like I said, I must have had a humongous hole in my life full of emptiness, because this takes up alot of my free time, and I wouldn't have it any other way, this is so fun, so rewarding, blows my friends/co-workers minds with the things i've created, I'm working on a cocktail cab right now and plan to post, but mostly i read and learn.

take care, great looking cab!
sb

Thank you so much for your feedback - great community, indeed!
Actually the forum inspired me so much that I'm planning to build a bartop on my own as well. - Starting small, you know...? I want to make it as a gift for my dad. He is so much into frogger! I think that after reading the forums for like three days without sleep I learned so much that I want to start right away!
In three weeks my holidays are starting. That's when I'm going to start. Will post my progress here!
