Skee Ball Simulator (I'm gonna build 1)
« on: June 06, 2004, 07:55:13 am »
Well after seeing a topic where jagnogg mentioned he will use a old PC and monitor for a skee ball machine I thought i'd make a quick program in VB to get a basic skee ball simulator for jagnogg to use and edit as he likes.

Now the simplest way is to make it is to run off a keyboard (more options as I progress)

so we have 7 skee ball holes

1 = 10
2 = 20
3 = 30
4 = 40
5 = 50
6 = 100

6 will be hooked up to the 2 100 skee ball holes.

now 1 have 4 more buttons.

1 = coin
2 = start
3 = left
4 = right

now on the monitor after you insert a coin you will have a option of which type of game you want.

left and right is for selecting between the games and start is to select the game you want.

So now the game will start and some random graphics will come up like start etc on the monitor.

when you get a score the score will flash up on the monitor and a sound and voice will speak.

pretty basic.

Now the hard bit is making a switch for holding the balls till a next coin is inserted.

but the basic's will be done.

then anyone can help me improve on the program :)

I don't have much time so i might make the basic program quickly and then release the source then work on the graphics etc when i have time.

Goal List
----------------------------
2 Player mode
Anti Cheat sensor
Ball holder for next game
Skins for scoring system
Sound system
Configurable keys/gme pad

and hopefully be able to run on real low systems. Well we can try at least :)

I have attached a small image showing the scoring Graphics i quickly made its based off the Pinball LCD look :)

So what does everyone think?   ;D

That's awesome, I wish I had the money and space for a skeeball machine!
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

cool idea.....but for those of us without room for a skee ball machine....how about a game that acts like pinmame.  as in, its basically a skeeball machine on your screen.  you see the holes and stuff, and you use a trackball to roll it up the ramp!  i mean, i dont know how to do it, but i figure you could just take a game like the bowling games that use the trackball, and just change the graphics and stuff, and there you go!  okay, no somebody work on it ::)

Oh yeah i also found a Mini skee ball machine so its possible :) and so cool to throw coins instead of balls in the skee machine :) we could easily make a tabletop skee ball machine based of them 1 and  half foot toy pin balls :) just use small metal balls or even fish tacke ball things :)

well im sure it wont be pretty at first, but with all the knowledge on these boards, im sure it could eventually  look halfway decent.  i mean, the bowling games that i play arent real pretty either really....but they work and look pretty cool.

I bought my parents a skee-ball putting game last year. It uses golf balls and putters, like a tiny putting green, but you hit the balls up the skee-ball ramp. The sound effects are slight entertaining (for about 15 minutes).

I got their's from Overstock for just under $50.

Can you repeat making the LCD look?  Could you make a script and send the script file my way?
