To Hell With Betson (H. Betti Industries)
« on: August 05, 2003, 11:19:00 pm »
I ordered an $80.00 usb trackball fron Betson and it was the worst purchase I have ever made on-line or otherwise and I've made a lot of purchases in my life.  Furthermore, never in my life have I had the displeasure of dealing with so many incompetent boobs.  First off, it took them a full two months (5/19/03-7/22/03) from the date of my order to get me my trackball.  That in itself was not so terrible, but my order was lost twice, I had to call about 10 times, speak to at least 5 different people, and send at least 8-10 e-mails, and finally it came.  Not so bad, right, well I'm just getting started.  Last week, while paying my bills for the month, I noticed that my credit card had been charged by H. Betti Industries on 3 separate days for charges totalling over $300.00, when all I bought was the $80.00 trackball.  They had mixed my credit card up with some arcade company in San Diego.  It took them days to figure out the problem.  I'm still not sure if the problem has been resolved.  To top it off, when I called to bring this to their attention, the billing told me that they still haven't charged me for my trackball, which I've had for almost 3 weeks now.  I've never experienced a more disorganized group of idiots in my life.

The moral of my story here is DON'T EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM BETSON, H. BETTI INDUSTRIES!  You work too hard for your money to have those morons play around with it.

I got a refurb from them and had to call them 3 times cause they didn't know how to run a credit card through properly.

Ok, I guess it wasn't just me.

I ordered two of the 3" PS/2 trackballs from them.  It took about a month to get them. I was told that the facility that builds them had just moved and was still trying to get re-organized.  I kept checking their website, and the amount due on my order kept changing.  For a while, it actually showed that they owed me $2.48.  For a week after I got trackballs, the website still showed that they had not shipped.  I finally  got an invoice for the correct amount in the mail.  I called to find out why they had not billed the credit card number that I had given tham at the time that I ordered.

One person told me that they would not have shipped the trackballs unless I had paid, so I must have paid already. Huh???

One person told me that my card must have been rejected.  That wasn't the case, because it is a PayPal debit card and I can see everything that happens on the account.

I fianlly got someone that knew what the real problem was.  some one had written the number down wrong! They had 17 numbers instead of sixteen. If I am ordering on-line, why is someone writing down my number and faxing it to another office??

At this point everything is fine, even their website is showing the correct status and amounts.  The trackballs are great and I am happy with them.  But H. Betti enterprises is a very mixed up company.

I never ordered direct from them. I just ordered one new off of Ebay. Sounds like I had better luck in dealing with a total stranger than you did with a "respected" company.

I ordered the trackball from them on-line.  The important part is the web order number.  With that number, I called them and told them where or when is the trackball being shipped when I have not received it from them after a week considering it is being shipped from IL. I know it doesn't take a week.  So with the web order number, they were able to pull it up and then get it processed.  I got my trackball in 3 days grounded.

The good part is that they lowered the cost to $74 and some cents so the final total was still $79 with shipping.

I did try the ebay first but then I wasn't going to sit around and try to bid one. There were good ones that went by or the cost was over $100. I felt like a sore loser checking it often after two weeks during work and at home.  I am not ebay junkie.

I did use the web order number.  It still took a month for them to get their act together.

I guess I should be glad I got my trackball from Happs when they were on sale for like sixty bucks. I'm also less than ten minutes away from their headquarters, so no shipping for me!

For anyone looking for a Trackball, I just got my happ trackball from Bob Roberts for $85.00. He's pretty easy to deal with. Only issue is you have to send him a check, but I saved a lot from Happ's website and avoided Happ's ripoff shipping charges.

That was part of why the shipping delay was so screwy.

Betson is apparently headquartered in Carlstadt, New Jersey.

From what they told me, normally the PS/2 trackball would have shipped from the assembly place to New Jerey and then to me.  Because of thee screw up, they had them ship it from the assembly site.

The assembly site has recently moved from Palatine, Il to Roselle, Il.  I could have driven to either one in under 30 minutes!

They dropped the shipping charges, so that partially made up for the delay.

Hm.. I ordered a back-ordered item (Namco System 11/12 kick harness) that said it would take 6 weeks to ship out and it arrived in about 2-3 weeks.. not great, but in line with the expectation they originally set forth.

Sadly, Betson-Imperial seems to be the most reliable Namco distributor I've dealt with as yet, too :P.. the local distrib never even called back :'(

Still waiting for some CPS2 board clips, though.. but, hey, if they're only about $0.50 each, take your time :/

When I worked for Capitol Amusement & Vending (a game operator) I was in charge of ordering parts. I bought tons of parts and monitors from Imperial International (now known as Betson-Imperial). Never had any problems with them.
