I'm wondering if there's a concensus on the best current DS flash cart. Divineo has the R4 and CycloDS listed for $20 and $48 respectively. Micro SD cards can be had fairly cheap so the R4 seems like a deal. Is there something I'm missing?

The R4 is not supported anymore, and the main advantages of the CycloDs are real time saving and slow motion. If you can live without those 2, may I suggest the Acekard 2 instead? http://www.dealextreme.com I just got one for $11 and it really works well using the Akaio custom firmware.

another important thing the CycloDS has is support for microSDHC cards, if it doesnt have that then your memory card capacity is capped at 2gb (which is a lot but still... ::) )
-
That's good to know. It looks like both the R4 and Acekard are SDHC compatible so I think I'm going to try the Acekard (the price is right).

The R4 SDHC is a bootleg card and the quality isn't as good as the real R4. I can't say about the Acekard as I haven't tried that one yet.

Really? Some reseller on Craigs keeps trying to sell R4 cards for $32 a pop. I did a Google and found (I think) the manufacturers site and they still seem to be kicking. That's good to know, I was going to go the cheap route there.

I second the acekard from dealextreme.com. They are low on stock right now and they will ship out on 2/10/09. If you can wait that long, it's the best card around (IMO) and at $11, you can't beat it.
-
The price on dealextreme shows up as 19.99 + free shipping. Where's the $11 price at?

I see now. I was looking at the AK2i. The AK2 is eleven and change.

What kind of emulators are available for the DS? Is there a working Mame (with game limitations of course) and SNES emulator? I didnt know cards were so cheap, last flashable card I had was for my GBA, which I loved, but somehow got lost when I moved :'(

I have 3 Top Toys (2 of them bought from Deal Extreme a few months ago) and they work excellently.
-
Yeah, the Top Toy cards from Dealextreme work quite well, and you can't beat the price (under $7).
-
I bought two Top Toys and two MicoSD cards for well under $30. Thanks for the tips! :)

2 of these are nice to have also as they outlast the stock and definialty an upgrade for longer play time

they also have a external USB dock that you can plug the battery pack in to charge it while the other is in the DS but there out of stock but the external charging dock is also a plus to have if your into playing the ds for hours on end and need another cheap charger that only needs the battery to plug into it to work/charge.
they also have a corded external power supply brick but I dont know how well they work or how long the cord is but I dont think playing one with a short cord with a power brick connected to it would be all that great anyhow if that were the case.

Two of these are nice to have since they outlast the stock and it is definitely an upgrade for longer play time.

Mix in some periods dude. I had to read your message a few times before I could semi-understand what you were talking about.

I (and about 5 of my friends) use the acekard2, none of us have been disapointed, although the only other card I can comment on is the dsxtreme (it was an utter failure).
