Title: Anyone else use these layouts? Is MALA crashing on you too?

I decided to convert these layouts for use in Mala (with the Mala layout converter). They all seem to work except the Mame (Arcade Classics), layout, which seems to crash Mala. It will display, but always crashes.

Just curious if anyone else is using these and if you had any problems?

I just downloaded the mame one and am trying it, so far no crashes.

A quick question, and I havent searched for it, so if some one can link to a post, that would be great.
How can I get just the background?
I like the mame one, but I want to strip everything off and use the background for my setup.

If you just want the background don't bother with the converter as it does not do anything to the graphics anyway. It just convertes the text and image size & positions

So just grab the image using the mala layout editor

I tried that, but the image still has the boxes with blue lines on it.
I would like to just have the space background.

The author of the background added the lines with a 3rd party app such as photoshop.  You need to contact the author for the original without the lines.

After looking more closely, I see the author included the photoshop project files.  I pulled out the background layer and attached it.  Is this the one you wanted?


I am assuming that John E. Crouse should get credit for these layouts and this image?

Great! Thanks a lot. It looks pretty good with my layout, I just need to reposition some objects now to better see the background.

So far, I've disabled the MAME screenshots option and that seems to have fixed my problem.

I'm not sure why MAME's screenshots conflict with these layouts, but it seems to be fixed now.

I just have to figure out how to get my screenshots back now.

If your screenshots use RGB (True Color) instead of indexed color, they will crash Mala.

Can you replace one or two of the mame snapshots with the ones I have and see if it is OK displaying these games?

And post an example here of a pic your are having issues with
