Title: Loose cd in laptop under the keyboard how hard will this be to remove??
Post by: divemaster127 on October 15, 2008, 10:56:16 am: Ok, my sister is one of these people if something has a problem its time to toss it & buy a another. She gave me a HP 6000 series laptop amd dual core last week that has issues. I finally did a clean install & fixed everything but when i picked up the laptop & turned it sideways to put in the case. I heard a clink pretty sure there is a loose cd under the keyboard. How hard would it be to take apart the laptop to check. I have built a ton of computers but I have always stayed away from laptops except for memory etc. This is a extra laptop I want to fix & give to my son for school hes 13.

I can see a small cd sized opening at the top of the optical drive where a cd could slip thru into the main keyboard area if the cd/dvd was not locked down. I have turned the laptop from side to side several times I can feel & hear the cd going from end to end hitting the sides

Also look at the screws, as you might need to remove them if the shaking doesn't work. ;D

Just what I was going to say. There is one (1) screw that holds the optical drive in place in a laptop. Also, after removing it, you can get a somewhat decent look inside.

Outside of that, taking apart a laptop can be a pain in the ass, so do what you can to avoid doing that.

Sorry for the double post.

On SOME laptops the keyboard is easy to remove, but even if it is, there is often a layer in between the keyboard and the motherboard.

Laptops scare me. I will willingly help someone deal with their PC any day... unless it is a laptop. They are like a puzzle box, and if you drop a piece, the game is over...
