Well I have a WG U2000, When I first turned it on I have a 3 inch spread of picture from left to right (horizontally,no top and bottom) across the screen and couldnt adjust it out. I bought and installed the WG Vertical Sweep Kit, and now I just have the same 3 inches but its all green now and I cant see any part of the picture. Should I remove the vert kit and try the U5000's horizontal kit? Do you think the power supply update kit could fix this?
Any thoughts as to what to do now?

this is a monochrome vector monitor. thus, the vert and horiz deflection circuits are the same ...
schematic at www.freeinfosociety.com/electronics/schemview.php?id=2219
check for poor solder connections- u will likely find some .
check c203 2.2uF/50v and semiconductors for leakage or low gain
there may also be vert/horiz gain ctls on the game board.
it wouldn't be a bad idea to change 'lytics on the hv pcb while ya got it open

He's talking about a U2000, what are you talking about? :D

OOOPPPSS ! had pulled a V 2000. sry, still adjusting to the new bifocals .... TNX for catching that Peale
lets try www.freeinfosociety.com/electronics/schemview.php?id=2215
for narrow horiz deflection:
check the solder connections at c724 ,c722,cn206 and pin 1 of flyback
and check d706 and q710 for leakage or shorts .
for vert issues :
check c607,610,613,615,616 and d683
also check r303,d302 and c306 in 30v supply
the tda1771 may also be faulty

wow, thanks.. Ill start the checking those components...I just replaced the TDA1771 but I ordered 10 of them from mouser so I'll try another one just in case

And the monitor has had a fresh capkit installed?
-
actaully no, the monitor has not been capped yet. I was having trouble finding a cap list and I didnt feel like ordering one that was assembled already.
I did notice a small descrepancy in the vert kit. The top of the page says to use a 100uf 35v cap, and in the directions it says to use a 100uf 50v cap. The kit came with a 35v one so thats what I used. The one that was previously installed was a 50v.

the problem with the green is most likely the drive transistor short on the neck card, worth checking these components
Q510, R562, R563, Q504, Q507, IC U500

C613 - 100uf 50v according to the kit list and instructions I have seen.
If the voltage value of the original installed is higher than the replacement........ go with the higher voltage value. Discrepancies have been known to happen in kits.
EDIT: Hmmmm..... both the U2000 and the U5000 schematics show a 100uf 35v for C613.
I wonder if someone had replaced that cap on yours before.
Using the 50v in place of the 35v is fine of course.

The voltage of that capacitor was changed from 35 volts to 50 volts after the manuals & schematics were printed.

Ah.... makes more sense now....thanks Ken.
