I've recently noticed while being on forums and trying to post that when i press enter to get my cursor down the page firefox likes to crash alot lately. I'm not sure if this was due to an update or something i just never noticed before but it seems to happen an awful lot lately.
Am i alone with this happening? I could be some kind of crazy thread poster and someone or something is getting even with me. ;D
-
I don't feel like commenting in this thread.

I bet this is how chad got so many posts during his time here.

Don't make me look and point out your pointless posts pecker peter.

Pecker peter was a guy i grew up with in high school who I've learned many good lessions from.

Some guys like DK and others i won't name like to come off as witty without really giving too much info as far as a username, as for me, my name is tommy, nice to meet you and good topic.
-
That one seemed to make no sense but you can still see my good heartiness at it's best.

Don't get me wrong, DK is a fantabulous guy in my book. 8)

I sometimes like to make up words on the fly, so sue me. ;D
-
No sensor on those words?

Maybe we will both get banned and end the forums suffering. ;D

I sleep like a baby. It comes from a good up bringing and feeling of peace within.

Nah. I'm quite sure Saint finds these exchanges quite humorous. I am wondering how Cheffo finds the appropriate quote though. ;D

And about firefox, it has been loading slower and slower. I have noticed a few strange crashes here and there. I have also noticed that sometimes I can't use my directional buttons to scroll down the page. THere seems to be no rhyme or reason to it either.
-
At this point my x64 version of firefox is working out much better.

id like to know this too but im sure he wont reveal his secrets. maybe he sorted everything tommy ever said into categories. or he just studies every topic hes posted in and its all from memory.

the dowles are not a secret its just something i had laying around and wanted to give it a try
-
Tommy, ever think the Firefox update has Tivo's learning capabilities and is trying to tell you something? :laugh2:

How are you doing today cheffo?
-
You either do everything in your power to protect or do nothing and die.
-
I have also noticed that sometimes I can't use my directional buttons to scroll down the page.
FWIW, I've also been having this problem although I haven't had the crashes and slowdowns that others have mentioned.
-
No scroll problems but it is really slow in starting up.
-
I like how no one but cheff and tommy were involved with this thread in the beginning.

Pecker peter was a guy i grew up with in high school who I've learned many good lessions from.
Pecker Peter was his boy scout troop leader's puppet.
Pecker Peter was not a hand puppet.

Another thing I have been noticing in firefox I was just reminded of is that sometimes when I hit the apostrophe key, the "search this page" bar pops up. Yet another quirk that is really annoying.

I get that, too.
It will sometimes not let me use the directional arrows to move around a text entry box.

WARNING: Useful information ahead. I know, it goes against the premise of the thread...
1. Type about:config into the Firefox address bar and hit the Enter key (or press the “Go” button). This will take you to a special advanced configuration screen.
2. Your cursor should already be blinking happily in the “Filter” text box. If not, click in that text box and type “typeahead” to narrow the options down to only those relating to the Find-As-You-Type feature.
3. Check the line that begins with accessibility.typeaheadfind.autostart. This controls whether the browser will start searching text on a web page as soon as you begin typing, without having to first invoke the “Find” dialog by pressing Control–F or typing a forward-slash. I had disabled this feature in the Firefox options, but for some reason this value was set to “true.”
4. If accessibility.typeaheadfind.autostart has a value of “true” on your machine and you’re experiencing the same bug I was, try double-clicking that row in the about:config interface. This will set it’s value to “false,” which solved the problem for me.

Ok, I came in today noticed my computer had restarted itsself since Monday (windows update I guess). Apparently firefox updated itsself, because it did its thing when it resets your homepage to the firefox update page. Anyways, somehow it deleted ALL of my bookmarks!!!!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :hissy: :hissy: :censored: :censored: :dizzy: :'( :'( :timebomb: :soapbox:
WTF happened? I am about to say ---fudgesicle--- firefox and go back to IE.

Could be that your admins deleted your bookmarks.

There are no admins where I work. I am the admin of my computer. ;)
-
So your computer is downloading and installing windows updates on its own? Not really a good idea. Windows update tends to break as many things as it fixes.

I know. I could have swore I turned it off. At the least, I made it so it would at least alert me before doing anything. Still, every once in a while I'll come into the office in the morning and my computer will be restarted after a windows update. Even rarer, the window will pop up that says "Windows will automatically shut down in xx seconds to update".
EDIT: I just checked and indeed it was set to "notify only when an update becomes available." Apparently, microsoft thinks that is only a recommendation instead of an order. :dunno
