Title: Trick for this darn e-clip on the P360?
Post by: dpz147 on March 29, 2006, 09:21:15 am
OK...I give up!  How do you get this  :censored: e-clip on the P360?  After all the hardware is on, there no room for it.  I tried pushing down on the joystick, but there didn't seem to be any give.  Any tricks from the pros around here?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I use a larger set of pliers, opened up slightly to press down on two sides of the insert, and then with my other hand, use a set of needle nose pliers to place the e-clip into the groove.

Just to clarify...by "insert" you mean the actuator?

Yes.  You push on the underside.

push the plastic sleeve down against the spring, so the groove becomes accessible.

No, just the one that came with the 360.  Eventually, I'm hoping to replace my dedicated 4-way with a red ball top though.

You are suppose to cut the metal bushing down to 1/2" for wood or 5/32" for a metal CP.
I'm talking about the cylindrical  bushing just above the pivot bushing.

It also helps to take 2 vice-grips and loosen the "E"  ring.  It doesn't need to be so tight.

Here is the info  (http://www.rototron.info?page=pdf/P360.pdf) that came with mine.

That seems to be for the Wico stick...mine is the one that came with the 360.

But, if I had to cut it, what is the best thing to cut it with?

I think Wico and Happ buy from the same manufacturer.
The Happ instructions (http://www.happcontrols.com/images/pdf/ins-0057.pdf) also state that the sleeve (bushing) should be 1/2" for wood.

I cut mine carefully with a small hack saw.  You don't want to cut it too short.

rdagger, isn't it supposed to come with both sized bushings and you just use the one you need for your panel?  If not, it really stinks if you have to cut it to size.

I haven't measured it but I'm assuming the one they sent me is .5".

I've read some previous posts from a year or two ago where it was common to be sent 5/8" by accident.  Maybe that's what happend to you.

I'll measure it when I get home.

I bought 4 and they all came with sleeves that were just over 5/8".
If your sleeve is already 1/2" then you probably just need to compress the springs a little to make it fit.

Yes, they are.  You use one or the other.  And if you use a slikstik replacement handle, you shouldn't use either of them.

I got it! :applaud:  Thanks for all the help!  I used a pair of pliers to push down on the actuator, then pushed the e-clip on no problem.

My brushing was already 1/2".  My guess rdagger is that you were shipped the wrong one, which I've read, has happend to other people as well.

Thanks again!
