Title: Is your post count messed up?
Post by: saint on March 13, 2006, 09:28:56 pm
Post what it should be here - that will let me or Sirwoogie fix it, and let the other regulars call "BS" if you're ... er... memory is a bit confused as to what it really was :)

Mine was well over eleventy two brazillion  :D

To be honest I can't remember what it was, but I'm not going to loose any sleep over it.

I have no idea of an exact number, but I was in the 3200 range.  It was definitely over 3000 and not over 3200, but that's as close a range as I can give ya.

I think I was just under or over 4000. Currently I show zero which is probably closer to my actual useful post count.

I only know this because I noticed the triple digit-ness this morning...

888

I may have posted once or twice after that, I'm really not sure, and it does not matter.

appreciated.  My e-1337ness is now restored, I can now rest easy.   :P ;D

I asked this at the other place too, but do you know what the problem was?  I'm curious what actually happened as I figured it was another little practical joke.

Still digging into it (by that, I mean I've abandoned all pretense of figuring it out and am waiting to see if SirWoogie can come up with anything) :)

No clue.  Unlike some others, I realize that my post count does not define me as a person.

I'm happy right where I'm at. :)

Heh. OK  :D Holler if you want it set to a certain number...

No idea exactly, I think I was at like 12000.

Damn that's high.  I know for sure I passed 10000 a while ago.

that's crazy... post count is EXACLTY how you are defined.

For instance, my post count tells me that I am roughly 3000 times as awesome as you are  :P

For the record though, in my case, I only rememebered my post count because I remember seeing that I hit 3000 and saying that I needed to stop wasting so much time here.  That was a week or so ago though, and I still waste many hours here  ;D  Plus I took note of my count once GGKoul first saw it, it was quite funny to watch it all happen.

My post count was unaffected.  If it helps in troubleshooting, I was only logged in briefly during the trouble time from a remote computer.  I did not post at this time.

Mission, you're misunremembering all the post hell posts you've made.  Those are added in there.

To be honest, I don't care, and kinda enjoyed being a noob again, although I know I would use the noobility for evil ;)

Whatever you threw at me is fine, or not.  Much like others, I don't care how many posts I have, just that they're 1 post more useful than Mission, so I can always tell him "GET OUT, YOU DON'T EVEN CONTRIBUTE MORE THAN ME!"

Thanks!  What about you - did yours change?

DrewKaree was at around 7500
GGKoul was at around 4700

Something's happening again.  I happened to notice earlier today, around 5 p.m. that I was at 6900, and didn't think anything of it.  I hadn't posted since that time, and actually, I haven't even been in my house, let alone logged into here, and you can see what my count's at now.

Not a bother to me, but I know some folks may be sounding the alarm soon.  Just leave my count where it's at - no need to fiddle with it, I'm ok with it.  Just a heads up for you though!

I was wondering if it might have something to do with the updated board software, since that was a fairly recent offering of it, yes?

If someone's doing it, it's definitely something they're turning on and off, but if not, it's not related to the following forums:

Yeah, that happened the last time too. You apparently don't have to be signed in at all or posting for this to happen.  Last time quite a few people, myself included, signed off or stopped posting and came back to lower post counts.   I think its a ghost  :notworthy:

does it affect everyone or just the highpost ppl?

I don't think Saint really knows.  It seems to have affected a lot of high post people last time, but a few people in the 100-300 range were affected too.  I guess its just easier to tell you lost 5000 posts like some guys compared to 10 heh

Title: Re: Test

Just a random thought - since it doesn't seem to be related to people *posting*, but people endowed with large post counts appear to be suffering the most, perhaps there is some kind of problem with post *viewing*? That would explain why hundreds of posts drop off the count when the recipient themselves have taken little action.   ???
Title: Re: Test
Post by: DrewKaree on March 31, 2006, 12:47:04 am
Unless it has to to with others viewing MY posts, then I can wholeheartedly say it's a definite "NO" on that one, jbox.

I've been logged into BYOAC 4 times today for mebbe an hour or less total time, and I've always lost posts during the time during which I'm not only not logged in, but completely offline, and not even inside my house.

I've lost 1500+ thus far, and about 200 since the last time I was logged in.
Title: Re: Test
Post by: jbox on March 31, 2006, 01:59:37 am
That was what I was thinking, each time someone views a thread with you in it your profile is obviously accessed to fetch all that other crud to put around your post. Hence, even while you are *not* logged on there is a chance for a problem to occur in your profile.

Nope, you should have 665.

If you want to see what your post count SHOULD be, go into your profile and hit the "find latest posts" link.  Go to the last page, and look at the post number.  That should be your post count.  I think that may discard any posts you made that were eventually sent to Post Hell, but its the best way to see what it should be.

My post count dropped since I last signed on yesterday, but I don't know if it happened yesterday or today.

1892?  Guess I'm not paying enough attention!

Is there a PhpBB support forum (gotta be), and has anybody who knows what they're talking about asked about this over there?  I don't particularly care about the counts in and of themselves, but I'm terribly curious as to what's doing it.

Yesterday I was at 5352.  More losses today.  This is 5206.

Saint, the only reason I'm letting you know is in case you guys are trying some fixes and aren't sure if they've worked.  I know my count increased from the 5352 all day yesterday, and I think the last time I was on was this morning around 3-4 a.m. with no dropped posts, so this happened sometime today.

Not certain if it's dropping again, or if it was reset to something more correct.  I've noticed that in looking at Bozxc's count, his is below as well, so I'm operating under the assumption that the counts are dropping again.

I was nowhere near that, but I was over 2500 at some point. Is it possible to go into negative numbers? I miss the security of my mothers womb.

Paige hasn't had a post in EE in forever.  I think the losses are tied to certain forums and views of your posts.

Besides, Paige won't care about his post count if our theory is correct.  He's worrying that his soap-on-a-rope is running out ;D

Not entirely true.  A lot of his posts the last few months were in EE.  The trailer, the scooter, Sausage vs. Bacon, Move and/or get a better job, etc.  I don't know that he's in any of the currently active topics, though.
