Title: Trimming T-Molding
Post by: Lon on February 26, 2006, 12:57:55 pm
Hi there, i have done a search and not found a method for trimming the overhang of the t-molding flush. I tried using a brand new single edge razorblade, but was not happy with the results, very uneven and the t-molding looked better untrimmed. Is there a method to get a consistant flush cut?

Thanks,
Lon

I used scissors once and got a very uneven cut. I got better luck the next time with a sharp utility knife. Take your time and go for a perfect 90-degree cut. Don't rush it. You might want to do some practice runs first.

Are you talking about trimming it in regards to overhang on the sides of the cab, or cutting it when you're finished installing it at the end?

How about an edge trimmer for iron-on edging.

I used that edge trimmer on my t-moulding and it worked great. Got mine here

It had a couple of sharp corners that tended to scratch the t-moulding during trimming, but a fine file to the sharp edges and corners on the trimmer fixed that

I just used a pair of scissors. I cut the part that bangs into the wood out first and then just cut the rest flush with the cabinet.

I am referring to the overhang. i want it flush. It looks like one of the edge trimmers might be what I need.

thanks,
