Hi everyone.
I have built a spinner using a PS/2 mouse and i was wondering if i could convert it to USB?
I know you can get little plugs that will change one to the other but i have some solderable USB plugs and i wondered if i could just re-wire it.
Also if i did, would it still work in mame?
Thanks in advance.

It seems more sensible to use the adapter plug than to permanently convert it ???
But, if you are determined to, I bet you could google up the "pin outs" and come up with something

keep it in mind for the future that if your CONTROLS work in WINDOWS, it will work with MAME.

The mouse has to be designed to work with one of those adapters. You can't just plug any old mouse into one. The mouse has to detect it's plugged into USB instead of PS/2 and adjust its output accordingly.

I found a small mouse from a 1996 computer and I threw a PS2-USB plug on it and it actually worked.

I just happen to have a picture of what the inside of those adapters look like.

Although I used it used it to modify a Xbox memory card you can see from the picture it's basically just strait wire connection.

Out of curiousity, what will this accomplish for you, other than allowing it to hot-swap?
