Title: Two GPUs with CRTemu driver
Post by: haynor666 on August 12, 2023, 03:17:53 pm
Will CRT driver and mame works with two Radeon cards so I could show horizontal games on one and vertical games on second?

Right I have such configuration but with one GPU but two analog outputs. Sadly all new GPUs have only one analog output so option would be to put two GPUs since many motherboard have such option.

Out of curiousity as I'm building a dual monitor set currently, what's not running properly with you current configuration? Or is it just that your current Radeon needs repair?

Radeon is fine. It's just old and weak for example for Naomi emulation.

for example for Naomi emulation.

That's my question, as I'm looking for another card and, like you, I prefer the HD 5XXX series for dual analogue. Which other examples than Naomi (and I guess DC as well?) do you have where a 5XXX series is not able to get it running (at 640 x 480)? Type X and other PC-based arcades?

Have you tried with an HD 5770 or 5850?

I would imagine other PC-based arcades, yep. A lot of the TeknoParrot games, for example.

Naomi through RetroArch/flycast core is ok. The same goes to early Taito Type X/X2 games. Newer Taito Type X and other PC hardware based games require more power but also does not work with 640x480 do it does not matter in this case.

I was thinking simply about build "bullet proof" but cheapest as possible hardware sbased on  only new parts. In this case it would be two modern GPUs since all new Radeons does not have two analog outputs. I think I have somewhere another Radeon but I would to know if someone tested new cards with such configuration rather old HD5xxx serie.

Can you really buy today new Radeons with even just one analogue out?

And when you're excluding the HD 5xxx series you also mean high-end cards like the 5850, or is it that these aren't verified to have two analogue outs?

I would prefer two low cost new Radeons with single analog output (still there on market such cards). Any new low cost Radeon would be better than my old HD5450.

Any retailer in Europe you recommend to find those cards? Thks.

Edited to add: I meant, something not being no name chinese units. Im seeing there are even brand new R7 350 for 50€ with VGA but are those really trustworthy?

It's hard to find something trustworthy. Most cards with single analog are in fact chinese product but on used marked I've found some Asus R7 cards that have one analog output straight from analog dsub that is build directly into pcb.
