Title: Usb encoder zero delay questions
Post by: SAVAGExMLGPRO on July 22, 2016, 09:34:13 pm

Would these work perfectly fine?

There are better quality options out there,  but it should work.

Is there a certain button to go back to the home screen of the retropie? Ive been using a xbox one controller for the time being and you use the start and select button to back out.

I would assume Retropie is configurable. Personally, I only use keyboard encoders in my projects.

There won't be a specific button, but as soon as you boot retropi with that plugged in, retropi will ask how you want the buttons asigned.   Having said that, I thought the xarcade would be fine with retropi. Am I wrong?

I was referring to the x-arcade ecoder.  I guess I assumed you had one since you have the buttons, but in hindsight that was probably not the correct assumption.

Retro pie allows you to configure each controller/keyboard etc individually so whichever you use you can navigate the menus.

If I recall its B button to go back while in menu's and start and select to quit game.

Yes, but i was wondering with the encoder i listed, is a specific button to go back. But if you were to check the encoder, what would be the start and select button? I dont remember ever seeing the start and select button when i configed the raspberry pi the first time.

I had to configure a hot button in Retropie for one of the buttons hooked up to my zero delay.  After messing around with the config files, I am now able to press player 1 and player 2 to exit a game.  Anything is possible with Retropie, it just takes time and patience to figure it out.  There is really no plug and play option.

How did you do that exactly?

Somewhere in the retroarch config section.  I would try to search the Retropie forum.  I seem to find a lot of difficult programming answers there.
