Curious,
Has anyone used one of these yet for a marquee?

Looks to be the ideal size...
Thanks!

hmm. i know people have been waiting for a good affordable option for lcd marquees.. im on my phone so i can only read up on it so much, but alibaba makes my head spin...
ill let the other smart ones around here break it down....
-
Id love to do one on my cab.
Program it to light up with the marquee of the game being played ;D

They are actually too wide. Most cabinets have a marquee area 23"-25" wide and the casing on these is over 29" wide. It will unfortunately never look integrated unless you swerve far from the usual cabinet designs.

Well, not that particular model but the concept has been proven in some builds here - with the Blip as the pinnacle so far according to me.

Do you think it would be a cool idea to pair one of these up with a Raspberry Pi and a smaller touchscreen lcd?
-
Anyone got a price on it? I just see the get latest price link.

If you are spending hundreds of dollars on your marquee wouldn't it make more sense to run it with something that actually worked well?
-
Correct, but I happen to have a ultimate arcade II.. I can just fit a 29" LCD bar! As far as the pricing goes I send them an email... we will see.
For other cabs it looks as though they make different sizes...

Looked at the link. That doesn't appear to take any video input like VGA or HDMI - rather, it seems to play files off a SD card or USB drive. So it's great for digital signage, but not what I think you want it to do.

Scroll a down a little under the "Specification" (red text):
Input Port: VGA/DVI

I stand corrected. Good eye.
To be honest, I find using it as digital signage to be more intriguing than using it as a digital marquee.

Ahh, I had assumed you already priced it as reasonable. There are several on ebay and other places online but prices are all exorbitant.

i tried looking for it on ebay but never came across any.
i searched for "lcd bar", and got replacement lcd screens for phones

One of the other builds here also used one from LG. Was about 150ish bucks.

SO how does one go about controlling a second monitor for the marquee?
Can anyone point me in the correct direction?
Thanks!

you use mamehooker.
past that, youre on your own lol

Well there was something I wanted to touch up on when it comes to games that aren't of the emu variety and to have an interactive display in the control panel. I do prefer my console games too you know.
-
Still no pricing :(
I will not give up!
Just sent another round of emails!
-
Getting closer!
Just got a legit quote for 300.00..
If the final written specs are correct i may try it...

I just ordered an 18.5 bar LCD from vitrolight for $300 + shipping. The LCD is in transit now, hopefully should arrive next week. So far they have been a pleasure to deal with and shipped right away. Fingers crossed!

Definitely post up some pics when you get it setup! My original cab might actually be wide enough for one of these but I don't know if it's worth the money, but damn they are sweet!

I ordered a 26-1/3" lcd through Vitrolight on ebay for my new cabinet (WIP). I had to build a frame around it within the marquee area to keep it sturdy and fill out the area without going through a full redesign, using same design as for another cabinet of mine with same main monitor. Finally got it all together and it developed a stuck pixel. Going to pretend that never happened after spending/exerting so much. I made the sub-frame removable (held in with pins) and may go back to projection if it gets too many more bad pixels. I am currently still impressed with the brightness/clarity versus my rear projection cabinet, despite the smaller image sizes when I wish to maintain aspect ration of original marquees.
