Ok I decided to open a New Thread and Exit Ralpas one
-
I got some screew's and nut's today from walmart for the control panel inlay
Here's what I did with them
Pic 1 got turned into pic 2
-
Used a Grinder with a drill holding the screw finished it off with some drilling into the sandpaper
Now I know I could have bought these at Mikes but hey it saved some cash I do need to get other part's ;D
-
I got some Krylon Spray Paint at Micheal's and Hobby Lobby it's a close match still need a few more can's though
wish I had a Paint sprayer those 40% coupon's do come in handy though.
Paint # is KSCS101 Turquoise the spot on the left of the card is a piece of the cabinet
-
Put the Cp bolt's on the inlay to see how they look and wow they look good.
Not bad for a little enginuity
Just need the cp board to dry from the paint
-
Worked on the control panel last night drilled holes and added latches plus hacked my first pc game pad since I wanted to keep the I-pac 2 for another game cab for the future
and the best part it work's not bad for beginner's luck ;D
still need's bondo and a paint job plus other thing's like Blue 1 and 2 player button's plus a orange jump button and a black ball joystick plus Marquee and side art plus instruction card's, 10 feet of white t-molding, Coin Mech's
Now using the other cp joystick and buttons
I do have some white T-molding that will cover the cp though but no table saw or router.
But my son is having fun again he did miss the cabinet when I pulled the old Cp out
-
Well yesterday was 2 step's back today is a step forward ;D
I had a dremel with a router attachment put the router attachment on plus used a 1" grinding wheel and was able to cut a groove for the T-molding
-
Here we go found a old song from Buckner and Garcia on youtube how many people remember this one
Do The Donkey Kong (A Video Sing-A-Long) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlDjKr18pKw#)

-
Well I took a Little Break On Sanding and got a New High Score ;D
-
Nice job on the cab and the high score. DK is a really tough game to master. It seems like the better you make the cab look, the higher your score climbs. :D
-
LOL I broke the 100.000 Barrier 4th Elevator got me though
Well I did take alot of hint's on you tube search on you tube

I was stuck on around 160K high score for ages and set my goal to break the 200K barrier. It took me months on and off to break 200K... and when I did it was only a couple opf weeks or so to 300K. (My current high is 365K). In fact when I got that high score I even broke 200K on the first man!
What i'm saying is when you break a goal it can be like a dam burst. All of a sudden you realise and learn some new stuff and then it seems easy. Having said that I'm still trying to break 400K now. I'm back to taking months again......
-
Got some new addition's for the cab Friday
Glad I was able to retire the X-Arcade Joy Stick ;D
I got my Part's from the same guy that I got the Bezel and Control Panel Inlay plus T-trim
For anyone in the Denver Colorado area this guy has some classic's ;D

Plus I am less than a Mile from his shop
-

-
Do you still have the Playchoice parts?
-
Wanted to jump in here and point out that unfortunately the vinyl/cassette and CD of the PAC-MAN FEVER album are not the same. Sadly, they lost the rights to the master tapes and had to re-record the whole album for CD release. The most noticeable difference is the substitution of real dog and cat noises instead of sounds from the Mouse Trap arcade game, since they couldn't find a working machine to record from. I assume they avoided MAME for legal reasons. I still recommend buying the CD, just that you may want to back it up with the vinyl or cassette.
-

I only have the Playchoice Marquee the Cabinet was Gutted when I got it 3 year's ago
-
You could get the record and transfer it to a cd using a sound capture card

You guys are all aware that it's a fairly horrible album, right?
Just get the vinyl for novelty display purposes - never play it. ;)
(I do have the vinyl version and have listened to it in it's entirety out of morbid curiosity one evening. It was quite grating...)
-

Yes, you could definitely do that. I like having the pressed disc and packaging (what there is of it) of the commercial CD, but I would like to be able to listen to the original recording again. One of these days I need to fire up the turntable and the $200 Firewire audio interface I've never used and actually make a CD-R of the LP. Oh, and the 45 of the title track, since it had the instrumental on the B-side. Not sure if Do The Donkey Kong was the same, but I'll have to check that out. I also need to find Digital Air's Dig Dug, which I don't think I've ever actually heard.

LOL... yes, some of the tracks are downright annoying, but a deep love for all things arcade tends to mitigate that. ;) After all, it's a heckuva lot better than those old ATARI book-and-record sets/picture discs based on Yars' Revenge, etc.

Heh, fair enough. Just wanted to make sure you guys weren't going crazy recording vinyl and realizing you wasted a couple of hours of your life.
And I do also have the Pacman Fever single. It's a very hard piece of square vinyl with the Pacman screenshot. The best part about it is the instrumental on the B-side, as you mentioned. The perfect background music if you're putting together an arcade-related video on YouTube.

-
Very nice work, love that you put so much effort into making it more "genuine" with regards to using real PCB and all. Its as authentic as possible for the actual game now.
Just wondering about the color, shouldnt it be blue tint to the color? On your pics it looks a bit cyan, but perhaps its the camera? I am seeking out the right color for my DK bartop project, but that will be red. :)
-
That's the way the color came out for some reason here's 2 photograph's
Before
(http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii595/castersquire/DSC00619.jpg)
After
(http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii595/castersquire/DSC00629.jpg)
-
Color looks pretty close to me. Good Job on the cab. It really blows me away how great the projects come out on here. I hope my project can look half as good as these when i get done.
