Wiring questions (db25, db37, USB, etc.)
« on: October 30, 2009, 05:08:18 am »
I'm working on swappable control panels. I currently use a db25 to route some inputs to an ancient ipac4 and then two USB cables from u360s.  I'm looking to start supporting some dedicated hardware like the jrok Williams board with the same panels. In the end I want to be able to switch between Mame and the JROK board quickly with a switch.

If it weren't for the JROK board, I would probably buy a minipac and a hub for each control pannel so that I can swap by just plugging/unplugging a USB cable. Since I need to ship over the output mode joysticks input from the u360s and the button states, I'm contemplating sending everything including USB over a single db37 or higher. Is there a more reliable/compact cable that is very resilient to being plugged/unplugged often?
