I've seen a couple awesome viewlix style machines on here that ppl are working on and it made me wonder if anyone is in the middle of, or plans on tackling any of the other japanese cabs like the EGRET II (I don't mean a conversion, I mean a scratch build like the slim viewlix on here). It would definitely be difficult with the plastic front bezel that lifts up. Idk, I guess you could fiberglass that if you knew how... Anyway, after seeing some of the work on here (i'm looking at you Ond), I don't doubt that it could be done.

building one to look like it with wood wouldn't be too hard I guess.

But if you want it to work like the real one with the lifting front section and all that....you'd need to sculpt everything first and use fiberglass or vaccumform plastic to make the shell.

And as much as that all cost...you'd be better off just trying to get the real thing.

I wouldn't really care if the bezel lifted up the same way as the real thing. And if if front curves could be made out of wood that would be cool as far as I'm concerned, although I don't even know where to begin with actually doing that kind of woodwork. I just thought it was a cool idea and was wondering if anybody else had thought of it before.

oh yeah. I've been thinking about it a lot actually.

Not an Egret.....but a similar cab. the Sega Astro City or Sega Blast City cabs. They are just awesome.

After I'm done with my Vewlix cab...I'll consider building one of these other cabs....thats if I can't find a real one before then.

I know I can order one from coinopexpress.com. But they cost about $900 just for the cab, then another $600 for shipping. I can't justify that much for 1 cab really....not when I know there are guys on here who got candys for less than $500.

Gatsu, if you haven't seen this thread yet you're gonna lose it. Guy gut 6 Astro Cities for 60 pounds (100$) on eBay. I can't believe it.
