Ultimarc AimTrak Light Gun Module -- posted my build @ Hyperspin --

LOL...my bad?
I would think it should work, It's just a piece of flat clear plastic...I may need to test that.

Can you put the sensor board pretty much anywhere near the screen or does it need to be aligned a particular way?
My monitor is surrounded by an mdf bezel behind tinted glass and I'd love to be able to route out a slot for the board but that means the board would be about an inch higher than the monitor itself?
Also would you happen to know if the sensor board would have any problems being behind tinted glass AND behind some colored film (I'm trying to hide the board as much as possible.
Drakin:
The sensor bar needs to be horizontal with the group of 5 leds at center of screen. I don't think the board being an inch higher thatn the monitor will make much of a difference because you'll calibrate the gun anyway.
I use mine behind tinted glass with no problems.
Here is what Aimtrak says:
IR Gain
This setting controls the "brightness" of the internal IR sensor. Normally this can be left alone because the gain is automatically set, but you can disable automatic gain control by checking the Disable checkbox.
When automatic gain control is disabled, you can set the gain to one of 5 values with the slider. There are very few situations where you may need to do this, but one such configuration might be where the LED PCB is located behind a tinted glass screen. In this case the gain might need to be increased.
If the Disable checkbox is checked, the slider still functions but will be over-ridden during use. In auto mode the slider moves on its own.

Yeah, I read the AimTrak site. I was hoping there might be some real world results with using things described on the site. I know Andy says it works (and I'm sure he could get it to work), but what does it do in the wild...
Drakin:
All I can say is that it works great for me...you can check my cabinet @ hyperspin.
