Linux Based JukeBox Software
« on: July 11, 2003, 05:24:18 pm »
Does anyone know of  Linux Based JukeBox Software? I'd really like one I can run with SVGALIB (i.e. not using X).

I'd like to run AdvanceMenu.

Thanks.

Theoretically, I can recompile DOSCab/WinCab to run on Linux with SVGALib.... (What would it be then?  TuxCab?)  I would need to set up a Linux environment, though, as I currently don't have one...

What version of Linux are you running?

That would be great! I'm running RedHat 9. I could try to compile it and see what I come up with. If you want to setup Redhat 9 you can download the iso's for free from Redhat.com

Let me know if I can help you in porting it to SVGALIB

RedHat is up to 9?  <sigh>  I'm SO glad I have a full T1 available....

Porting is a no-brainer, as all graphics and sound are handled by Allegro, which is cross-platform.  The only changes I'll have to make is that the program assumes you're in a short-filename environment if you're not in Windows.  My problem is knowing only a smidge of Linux....

This will be great for the Linux Cabinet Community. I'm really excited you are going to port this. Like I said I'd be glad to help out anyway I can. Testing, coding, etc.

Thanks!

Well, I am not a Linux user, and can barely get around Red Hat, let alone make it work on a variety of distros.... I guess what I'll have to do is just make it Open Source and let people compile it themselves...

Are many people even using Linux in their cabs?

Guys,

check out 'Globecom Jukebox' (a.k.a. 'gjukebox') - available at www.sourceforge.net. ;D

Loads of dependencies, but definitely worth it!

I'd use it myself, if it weren't for Cyberpunk's VMJB already configurable for coin/credit inputs.
