Who Presses Tokens?

Let's say I want to get my own custom tokens pressed (with the Space Fury Commander embossed on one side and "VectoRaster's Basement" on the other) just to make things that much more authentic.  Does anybody reading this forum know who can do the job?  It's probably $$$$ but I'm interested anyway.

Hey, while we're on the topic, what's your favorite token since the 80's?  I have an old Alladin's Castle token that's pretty cool.  I also have a 2001 Camp Snoopy token that's worth saving.

I am using Hoffman Mint, but there are many mints around.  The one problem you might face is that they will not make copyrighted art onto the coin, so you should come up with an original design(besides it's more fun that way).  They also sell coin mechs that you might be able to get from Happs, but these are gaurenteed to work with the tokens they make.

Also if you have a Beaver coin mechinisim, after you make your tokens, you can send one to Beaver to get them to make you a coin mech for your token (pretty cheap actually)  Beaver's phone number is 1-800-265-6772.

For coin mechs I would recommend the "Imonex $.25, .882 & .900" Token Coin Mech" (#42-6901-00) from Happ.  They work wonderfully.  I wanted my cab to take tokens or quarters and it does so beautifully.  If you move the little triangle over (you will know when you see the mech), the will also take coins bigger than a quarter (like Chuck E. Cheese tokens).  The new dollars are thicker and will get hung upon (until you press to reject).

Those of you doing this, how about letting us in on what kind of cost you're looking at?  Would be much cooler than the bag of assorted tokens I got off ebay!

Myself, planetjay, and some othere here talked about getting a batch of custom tokens from Hoffman once.  It was not very expensive for the tokens but you have to pay for the tooling ( if memory serves me it was around $100 a side).  I think it worked out to be $50 each for 5 people to get 500 tokens and pay for tooling, after the tooling is paid for though you can order them for just the token price.  The more people you get interesed in the tokens the cheaper it will be.  I would be interesed if you can get enough people to make it not too expensive.

I'd be interested as well if it were a Mame based design.  Having your own tokens would just be too cool!!

I am doing custom art on both sides.  That is the main cost right there.  Custom art starts at $175 per side, but that is just the start.  The more detail the more cost.  My tokens just as far as the artwork is going are going to cost about $950, then I have to buy the tokens themselves.  But it will be worth it, once my MAME cabinet, Track 'n' Field cabinet, pinball machine, pool table, and bubblegum machine all take the tokens it will be great passing out the tokens at parties.

What I did, btw, was I took my coin acceptor and ripped it apart, and hacked it so all coins could go though.

Now I have a giant piggy bank!  

It takes 50 cent pieces to pennies.  I always keep a jar of pennies next to it for company (and buttons over each coin accepter that can be disabled)

btw, the trick to hacking the coins was.... straws!  You remove a few peices and then add straws so that the coins always go down the slot.

Find yourself a tool and die apprentise. They could make a soft die in no time. I used to work with "toolies" One of the guys made some coins up for fun once........ You get a way better deal than going to a mint.

Hit up a tool and die shop, you'd be surprised what you'll find.

so you go to a tool and die shop... and get a "master copy" made... then where to take it to get your tokens made? Or will the tool and die shop do that for you too?
