High scores thread

I asked in 'forum discussion', but I get the feeling that forum is rarely visited. So I'm just going to start one and see where it goes. Post any high scores you've gotten recently, or that you get in the future, as well as talk about how you got them, etc. To start off with I guess I'll repost my recent Bubbles score and pics:


Well, on a lark really, I got a new all-time high score for Bubbles. Another one of those, 'holy ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, how did I make that' games, continually. But never forever, alas. Them roaches get awful fast. I was just trying to run from them, never mind get any ants on that last board. I think this bests my last high score by at least fifty grand.

Well, I gots me a new high score on Gyruss. Got this on real hardware at the recent SoAZ Castles & Coasters meet.

You know, I didn't notice anything different about the game this time. Maybe I wasn't paying attention, I dunno. The monitor looked older, though. I think last time they'd put it in just before I came or something.

And, for a new score on Pole Position. Just surprises me I can continue to get higher scores on this, given I have no pedal. I might be able to see 65k now, if you had one. Note, I have it set for four laps, though the machine at Castles & Coasters was three, but the game must've been set for four when THE high score was attained.

This isn't the highest score I've gotten on Tempest, but it's the highest score and highest level starting from the beginning level. Again, mame .130 . I tell ya it's changed a lot since .104 - harder now.

Here's I think my highest score for Do Run Run! Vaguely remembered this game from back in the day, but don't think I ever played it. Loved the layout and perspective. Really like the game. Probly my favorite, play-wise, of the series, though Mr. Do's Wild Ride is second, and a tie for basic design and all. A main strategy of mine is to try to make a square around the whole of the board, or as much as I can, go get the letter, then use the roller to clomp the whole lot of googlies when they chase ya.

Hey Ummon, just curious, which track did you choose? Easy, Medium or Hard? 3 or 7 to start?
I always play on the medium track, and usually end up in the mid 400's or so with 3 lives and high 400's with 7.

Wow. Nice. I usually start on Easy, 3 lives. Sometimes Medium, but always three lives. I don't play it often, maybe once every couple/few months. I remember when it came out, and wasn't totally impressed with the graphics, and the ease of falling off things pissed me off. But, to it's credit, it actually has complete freedom of movement, otherwise. And I think it was the first full-movement, role-playing arcade game. Ahead of it's time, really. The isometric perspective really helped. (Of course, Congo Bongo could be argued a contender, in a basic sense.)
