Donkey Kong Repair ?
CTpunk:
I just moved this thread to the MONITOR section. Seems more fitting for the issue at hand.
Hey there brand new to this and have a few questions regarding a Donkey Kong machine I just picked up rather cheap. Dont know what generation this is but its got the blue sides and has a Sanyo monitor. Ive gotten some useful info from researching around here and elsewhere but havent found the exact problem yet. The game fires up and plays, guy runs and jumps and dies but Ive got no real screen (see pic). Its seemed to collapse into one center vertical line. I havent done anything except cleaned out the layer of dust on everything, inside and out. Does this look like a "cap kit" repair? Also if it is a cap kit issue how many caps are we talking about here? Replacing them all on each and every board? Seems like there are over 100 no? Thanks for any help and please ask me to include any info that I may have left out.

Also should the monitors tube be lit up pretty hot to be normal? Dosent appear to.
THE POKER BRAT:
i have the same prob on my bomb jack cabinet,...(some people say its a width coil)
SirPeale:
If it's a Sanyo EZ there is a switch on the main board. IIRC it says "Test Mode" or something close to it. If it gets flipped it'll produce a result like what you're seeing there.
If that works...good. If not, you have something called vertical collapse. Try my suggestion first and we'll go from there.

Only seemed to find one switch, its on the board thats right behind/underneath the monitor. The silver base plate under the monitor says Japan EZ so I assume it is a Sanyo EZ. Dont know what you meant by IIRC but the little white switch says "normal" beside it. I flipped it but it did nothing as far as I know.
