I agree the term gameroom certainly seems to hold a different for some on this forum. Myself, I like big open spaces in my house so when i finished my basement I planned accordingly. To wall off several enclosed rooms just to have a "dedicated gameroom" and "dedicated tv room" didnt make much sense. For resale value purposes alone its a good idea to have one big wide open room downstairs rather than several closed off rooms. In the end you really have more living space that way. So that being said, if this is your route, you have no choice but to combine all these things together, arcade, tv, bar, poker table, pinball, whatever. Like I say, I think its cool to go downstairs and have everything out in the open accessible to all. It makes gatherings/parties more social anyway since you dont have a bunch of people grouped off in different rooms.
All that being said, when I finished my basement, due to the design of the house, there is one fairly good sized room downstairs that isnt necessarily "open". We put all our exercise equipment in there, eliptical, bowflex, treadmill since we didnt want that out in the open we "enclosed" the room with double french doors. So the room can appear closed off or open depending on what you want. This room also doubles as a play room for our daughter and houses many of her downstairs toys. I have thought lately how cool it would be to take everything out of there, lay some arcade type carpet down, install some blacklights, and start filling it with arcades and pinballs but the wife wont go for it. Besides, what would I do with all the exercise equipment I use on a daily basis
